  2. MNM is proud to present the long-awaited return.. One of the best live dance-acts sweeping the nation... LOTUS www.lotusvibes.com www.myspace.com/lotusvibes HAMMERSTRIKE TOUR 2009 w/ special guests BLVD (SF) www.blvdsourse.com www.myspace.com/blvdsource ON THE HEELS OF A HUGE 2008 FOR LOTUS, THE BAND HITS THE ROAD IN SUPPORT OF THEIR FALL RELEASE, HAMMERSTRIKE. The band's 2008 successes, including a coveted cover story in Pollstar Magazine and sold out shows from coast to coast, haven't distracted these humble musicians with Mennonite roots. As their relentless tour schedule proves, Lotus is ready to work. Lotus formed at a Mennonite college that had banned on-campus dancing as late as the 1980's, and has been creatively fusing electronic dance music with instrumental post-rock for the past eight years. Armed with a massive light rig and one of the most energetic shows on the circuit, Lotus was a go-to act for late night festival slots this past summer, performing at ROTHBURY, Summerfest, Camp Bisco, and others. Also in 2008, Lotus saw advance sellouts in venues throughout the U.S. including Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh, two nights at World Café Live in Philadelphia, two nights at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Higher Ground in Burlington, and Kinetic Playground in Chicago. The band's remix album, Copy Paste Repeat: Lotus Remixed was released in spring of 08 to huge critical acclaim. WITH A MASSIVE LIGHT SHOW TO BOOT, THE CRITICS SPEAK "... simultaneously making waves on the indie and electronica scenes thanks to a series of well-crafted albums." - Relix "Lotus continue to expand upon its post-everything rock/electronic/jazz/free-form pastiche." - Big Shot Magazine "...intent on creating a new genre.. it is house, techno, rock, and smart disco; funk and soul, piano pop, world music, and modern alienation stuff and jazz fusion you can dance to all wrapped up in cellophane." -Big Takeover PLEASE HIT THIS UP ON FACEBOOK RIGHT HERE!::: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=737305531#/event.php?sid=3c8be98e2a9591aff74b3edecd316d32&eid=60149114251l [color:red]TUESDAY APRIL 7 TRALF MUSIC HALL www.tralfmusichall.com 622 Main St. Downtown Buffalo NY DOORS 730pm / SHOW 830pm TICKETS RIGHT HERE www.ticketmaster.com/event/00004235D2EF5D12?artistid=910540&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60 ALSO AT TERRAPIN STATION & BETTER YET GET EM AT TRALF BOX OFFICE BROUGHT TO YOU BY www.myspace.com/mnmpresents
  3. T-Dot & Buffalo collide for a night of solid Livetronica! THE CHAMELEON PROJECT www.chameleonproject.com www.myspace.com/chameleonproject The Chameleon Project wants to move you. They want to move you to dance, move you to think and move you to feel. That might be a tall order for some, but for this tightly knit trio it’s just what they do. The goal says CP founder Josh Laing is to challenge the audience and get them to explore new sounds and textures while delivering something familiar and fun. Adds Josh “The music must be intelligent but not so esoteric that people can’t relate.†The band constantly draws on the lessons of the past and they deliver their own take on how the music aught to sound. Drawing on the influences of jazz greats Lou Donaldson, Miles Davis and Art Blakey and the groove stylings of everyone from the P-Funk mob & Barry White to the improvised rock influences of the Grateful Dead, Little Feat & Phish, and into the future with the electronic affectations of Goldie, Grooverider, Derrick May and many more the Chameleon Project produces its own unique music. This is a band that is best experienced live as their legion of fans will attest. “We’re essentially a live band that delivers when we get into extended improvised jams.†Josh adds, “This ability to create something new every night means that our shows are always changing and always fresh. Even if you’ve seen us before we’ll be sure to surprise you and ourselves.†Moving seamlessly from drum & bass, to traditional jazz through funk, dub and reggae and electronica the CP project shows no signs of slowing down or wanting to stop changing colors and music textures. And the best part is, whatever you hear on their latest CD, you will also hear live as all effects and arrangements are done live every night. It’s a process that keeps the audience engaged and moving. w/ special guests ROGUE SCIENCE www.myspace.com/roguescience SATURDAY DECEMBER 6 @NIETZSCHES 248 Allen St. Buffalo NY Doors/Show 10pm . 21+ . $7 Brought to you by::: www.myspace.com/mnmpresents
  4. Last minute booking, totally awesome band! If you like the idea of a 7-piece band, with a slew of crazy instruments, performing live electronic house, disco, & techno...look no further. I did my research, these guys are SICK!! MY DEAR DISCO www.dancethink.com www.myspace.com/mydeardisco A year and a half after it’s inception, My Dear Disco has already earned a permanent place in the incredible lineage of bands that have emerged from the Ann Arbor music scene; bands like Funktell, Cloud 9, Tally Hall, Nomo, and the Macpodz. Known for their distinctive, “DanceThink Music,†their debut has been meet with critical acclaim since it’s release in 2007, described as, “. . . at once a psychedelic exercise and a grasp at the Top 40,†(CD Reviews.com), “Ultimately the successful delivery of many musical variables, tastes, and influences into one final product . . . †(The Sentinal-Tribune), and †. . . from Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder to Daft Punk and Tom Waits.†(The Battle Creek Enquirer). With music featuring electrified Irish Bagpipes, and a line-up including a 2-time International Acoustic Music Award winning composer, a 3-time World Champion instrumentalist, a 1st place Michigan Idol winning singer, and two 1st place M-Block Records “New Music on the Block†winning recording artists, their live show has been hailed as “. . . one of the must see acts in Detroit and Ann Arbor,†(The Detroit Fashion Pages). Their recent full-length, “DanceThink LP,†features mixes by Grammy-nominated engineer Mark Saunders and his multi-platinum studio in New York, the same people responsible for the sound of Shiny Toy Guns 2007 Warner Brothers release “We Are Pilots,†Tricky’s “Maxinquaye,†David Byrne’s. “Feelingsâ€, and The Cure’s “Wish.†On May 15th, 2008 the band was named one of the most promising bands in the country by American Eagle’s New Music Union. As a result, they were invited to perform at the A.E. Summer Festival, curated by Anthony Kiedis. Coming off of a fully-stocked summer schedule — including (in addition to the A.E. Festival) BlissFest, Hoxeyville, Dunegrass, Feel Good Festival, The Jazz Aspen Snow Mass, and Nelson Ledges, alongside artists such as Lotus, Moe, Bucket Head, and Bela Fleck — My Dear Disco is in full-flight, following their “DanceThink Music,†wherever it takes them. 5. Personally, Im very excited for this one... AN EVENING WITH... ELIOT LIPP www.myspace.com/eliotlipp From Tacoma to San Francisco to Chicago to Los Angeles to New York, producer Eliot Lipp has always followed the music. Creating songs that, according to XLR8R, “tickle days after the last spin,†he combines hip-hop influenced drum programming with the vintage synthesizer sounds found in the cutting edge electronic music of the 70s. Eliot Lipp’s early career saw him vigorously honing his skill on the club circuit where his fresh and daring take on hip-hop impressed Scott Herren (Prefuse 73) so much that he put out his 2004 debut LP on Eastern Developments. Subsequent successful releases on Hefty Records have continued to expand his audience and refine his craft. Now, Mush is thrilled to bring offerings of Eliot Lipp’s timeless yet novel interpretation of electro-funk to the people. 7. New Album "Another Sound is Dying" feat. Mike Patton available NOW. DUB TRIO WWW.MYSPACE.COM/DUBTRIO “Brutally fantastic…this rocks – very hard and very loud…it is the perfect post-punk record…the perfect rebellious adolescent album…it is a metal and dub melting pot turned up to 11,†-Aloud “Skull-crushing, genre-bending music…Dub Trio goes right for the throat from the very beginning, pounding a metal riff into your skull with pissed off speed…a kick ass rock band…each track has moments of ear splitting guitar gut, rumbling bass and, most memorably, innovative drumming…It’s this ability to surprise and engage that makes Dub Trio one of the best experimental bands out there today, in any genre,†-411 Mania “The band is most true to the core idea of dub — the experimental manipulation of sound — in its willingness to destroy it, to go beyond the confines of traditionally dubable reggae material…The trio’s ambition, their sheer steeze to take the chains off the dub aesthetic, makes them fascinating, if not brilliant, and they go from nut-crunching sludge riffs to long, loping chill-outs without flinching,†-San Francisco Bay Guardian w/ special guests Baczkowski / Padmanabha Duo: "...a massive jaw-buggering huff of growling circular breath, black, black blues, detonating percussive inventiveness and a whole lot of joyous breath and bones interaction." MAD PROFESSOR www.myspace.com/madprofessordub When Mad Professor (Neil Fraser) started his 4 track studio in the front room of his home in 1980, he couldn't have known that his passion would explode into a two hundred plus record label (Ariwa Records). Referred m to by Melody Maker in London as " the biggest black owned studio complex in Britain". Indeed, Ariwa Sounds now boasts and impressive 24 track studio with a superb track record of producing such artists as Sade, The Beastie Boys, Massive Attack, The Orb, Lee ' Scratch' Perry, Macka B., Twinkle Brothers, JC Lodge, and U Roy just to name a few. Most recently, Mad Professor has been busy mixing and producing tracks for The Boom, Depeche Mode, Jamiroqui, Rancid, KLF, and Perry Farrel (Jane's Addiction). Born in Guyana, South America, Neil Fraser was nicknamed Mad Professor by school friends because of his interest in electronics. It was this same interest that help him to start his own recording studio, by first building his own mixer, echo and effects machines. It is no surprise that this interest coupled with his love for Motown, Philadelphia, Treasure Island and music of all types have propelled him into the artist that he is today. As United Kingdoms most formidable reggae producer and dub mix master, Mad Professor's genius lies in his ability to use computers and modern techniques, to produce dub tracks that sound and feel like roots and culture. Always an innovator in an ever growing genre. Mad Professor continues to blow away audiences worldwide, with his live dub performances. Creating, mixing, and captivating the audience while his DJ's and singers perform on stage. Mad Professor has become what NOW Magazine in Toronto Canada calls "The high tech leading light in reggae-dub innovation. " Through the nineties Mad Professor gained momentum globally. Touring South America, North America, Japan, Africa, and Europe, including Moscow's first dub show playing to an audience of 6,000. On top of a heavy touring schedule Mad Professor has and continues to work various major labels such as Sony Music, EMI, Arista, Warner Brothers, Capital Record, and Virgin Records. The Ariwa Sound Studio with it's unique and easily identifiable by the professor's Dubtronic, electronica mixes fuses in with base and drum sound. w/ special guests DJ UNIVERSAL (dub/reggae) BIG BASHA (dubstep) THURSDAY OCT 23 @BIG ORBITS SOUNDLAB www.bigorbitgallery.org/soundlab 110 pearl St. Buffalo NY Doors/Show 930pm . 18+ GET YOUR TICKETS IT WILL PROBABLY SELL OUT WWW.TICKETWEB.COM Brought to you by WWW.MYSPACE.COM/MNMPRESENTS
