  1. too bad i missed them last year as "hey that new maiden song isn't bad kinda sounds like an older great song by them"

give 'em credit for reincarnation and passchendale though top notch.

might we get the latter as it appeared in early shows on the tour and it is at the war museum and all.

world famous tank expert bruce dickenson might see his way clear to connect the dots

  2. lol Northern wish that one threw me i was trying to figure it out at work today...would have placed you in st. catharines if you did know me that long i guess. kevinm's aren't rare i guess.

    Trevor will email you momentarily

Hey Bash 34 posts baby...i'm all over this place. have you two moved yet? are you planning on wreaking havoc in your downtown core soon? things are well on this end really looking forward to some fucking vacation time though.

  3. we are at the turf and spa closer to downtown than spac however they did not jack up the rates to a stupid amount and i have heard that it's clean.

i have no idea if they still have vacancy.

you may be looking at downtown or ballston spa by this point...perhaps but not necessarily so.

  4. i felt the same way as mitchell when i first heard modern times but then i got to thinking.

there is tradition in the borrowing of blues licks and lyrics almost the same hand me down method of the old plantation working songs and the ol'timey stuff from the hills.

maybe what's a stake for me then is the legitimacy of dylan invoking the borrowing tradition.

what i came up with is two things which ultimately made me disagree with what mitchell says about dylan regarding modern times.

one is that bob is becoming somewhat whimsical in his songwriting...i see proof in the live performances (nudie suits et al)and stuff like must be santa which came later and is almost parody (in a good way)...the jester.

two is that bob doesn't give two shits about being a poet laureate and has seen too much to attempt to stay on top of a pile of profundity.

both of these possibilities are in stark contrast to the publicly stark and deep joni mitchell...

  5. i know a lot of these musicians from my work at cfbu over the years. they all have chops and many have stayed local to make niagara better as opposed to leaving it to the retirees. this is a real distinct thing about the area. if you go to this most assured you won't be disappointed.

far better off staying off lake st. (st. catharines) at a hotel than niagara falls. the only hotel that close (within walking distance)to robertson hall is on st. paul and it is really quite sketchy...if that's ok with you you won't find any cheaper.

    just skip breakfast over there.

  6. really really big show last night

still singing this...love the breakdown at the end

    poor places

It's my father's voice dreaming of

Sailors sailing off in the morning

    for the air-conditioned rooms

at the top of the stairs

    His jaw's been broken

his bandage is wrapped too tight

    his fangs have been pulled

and i really want to see you tonight

    There's Bourbon on the breath

of the singer you love so much

He takes all his words from the books

    that you don't read anyway

    His jaw's been broken

his bandage is wrapped too tight

    My fangs have been pulled

and I really want to see you tonight

    Someone ties a bow

in my backyard to show me love

    My voice is climbing walls

    smoking and i want love

    My jaw's been broken

My heart is wrapped in ice

    My fangs have been pulled

and i really want to see you tonight

And it makes no difference to me

how they cried all over overseas

It's hot in the poor places tonight

    I'm not going outside

    They cried all over overseas

It makes no difference to me

It's hot in the poor places tonight

    I'm not going outside

  7. expanse has gotta count for something though. always amazes me i'm in ottawa after a few days of it. that's just the thing it does really well it gets the advantage of ottawa's beauty while helping you to forget you're having to actually be in ottawa.

that booming former subculture of the 80's manages to govern the concept of fun well enough however; they remind me throughout that i am definately in ottawa.

this is what prevents it from being the best.
