So I'm trying to make it up to Collingwood on the weekend of March 18-20th with a group of 7 or 8 friends. I don't give a rats ass where we stay, but it's gotta be reasonably cheap. Checked most places at Blue Mountain and the prices are completely unreasonable. I'm looking for under $120/room/night. Anybody got any suggestions? I can handle any kind of accomodations...even a dirty ole' roadside motel.

great!
You DID WHAT YOU WERE SUPPPOSED TO DO! many people just keep letting their computer shut off, and then restarting it, frying their board/chips/ram/processor etc.
Oops...i guess i'm on the other side of that coin...fugg!

Hey while I'm at it...i may as well as for some advice about buying a new motherboard. I've got an amd athlon 2700 processor. I've got an external sound card, and external video card...bout all i can think to tell you for now. Any thoughts are appreciated...Thanks!
-
Dang...well replaced the power source and the trouble remains the same. Is there any way of telling if the ole mother board is toast without buying and installing a new one? Like just looking at it perhaps?
-
hey Phunky - is your PC beeping "strangly" on boot-up (ie: anything other than 1 short beep)?
Nope, just the typical beep.
Yeah, Tungsten...i'm gonna swap the power supply out of a friends pc just to make sure of that first...thanks !
-
dang...okay, well tried dusting the poop outta the pc, after having taken the sucka apart...no luck. So, it's looking like muthaboard it is. Let me know if you find a good deal on a new board PoG. Maybe a group discount would apply Gawd I hope i don't lose my data...fingers crossed.
-
holy crap...as luck (or lack thereof) would have it, i'm having the exact same problem. My pc won't even get to the welcome screen anymore before shutting down. I'll try all the recommended solutions...thanks. I really don't want to lose all the digi pics i've taken over the last couple of years...that would break my heart

It's recommended by any good audio/video store that you always match all your speakers, so I'd get a Yamaha sub - although matching a sub isn't as imperative as matching speakers. When you start adding different brands of speakers into your system ( eg. like two front Yamahas, JBL centre, PSB rears ) you are asking for trouble.
Well i guess i've already gone wrong...i've got 2 JBL fronts and 2 JBL rears, no center channel. Should I stick with the JBL, or move onto a Yamaha sub?
-
does anybody have any recommendations as far as a sub goes? I've got a yamaha receiver with 80W output per channel, so i don't need a massive sub. Looking for something crisp but don't necessarily wanna spend a lot of cash. Thanks

Surprised to not see too much talk bout this on the board...guess everyone and their uncle was at Nero this weekend and it sounds like it was a wild one. But not to be outdone...tND was sick and had a large crowd at the Opera house sweating and bumping. Anybody else check this out?

i hate it when people won't shut up after i say i'm vegan and don't want to eat the crap they're offering.
example:
person:would you like some chocolate?
me: no thanks, but it's nice of you to offer.
person: it's really good, i think you ought to have some. (more rambling about the chocolate or whatever else they are offering that i tune out since i am not interested)
me: no really, i'm fine. thanks though.
person: why don't you just have a little?
me: i'm vegan, i really don't eat that kind of stuff.
person: why don't you just have some this once, it's good and i like it and there's some right here and you can have some and i'm a big moron that won't shut the fu©k up about this stupid chocolate that isn't really chocolate at all but a bunch of chemicals that will make me fart so bad i could power a dump truck full of the waste created by liposuciton patients.
me: if you offer me the fu©king chocolate one more time i'm going to push you over and roll you around in it and then dump you inside the bear pen at the toronto zoo. i know the guy who takes care of the bears and i'm going to make sure he doesn't feed them for three days so when your fat, chocolate eating ass goes kersplat on the ground in there the bears are going to tear you to shreds in bloodlust.
i wish people would just eat what they want and let me eat (or not eat) what i want. i don't give a rats ass if you eat a live cow right in front of me with your bare teeth. it doesn't bother me in the least. if you offer me some and i say no thanks, please let that be the end of it. my diet shouldn't bother anyone.
Holy cow...you aren't kidding. You really do hate that don't you? How perfectly involved

This is gonna be soooo sweet! I've gotta get out there and get myself an outrageously tight pair of nut-huggin jeans.

we just watched a bit of the Star Wars Bonus Material DVD on our office's board room big screen. I'm debating cracking open some of the wine we still have here from yesterday.
yeah, I think you'll like it here
Dang Bouche, you're making me wonder why I ever left

I'm definitely going with a nice little entourage of 12 or so. Really looking forward to him. I know that his shows are all fairly similar, but DANG it's good. It'd be good to have that place packed. See y'all there.

It looks so much funnier on the big screen than on the camera. You were a trooper to take that huge pickle. Andrew's got a hell of an arm. Right after you got hit with that one, my buddy charlie tossed another one at you when you weren't expecting it. It barely missed you and sailed off into the lot. Wherever it came down, I'm sure it caused some havoc...those were awefully big pickles!

So, I was checking out "Supersize Me" at the Cumberland theater tonight and I run into Neil. I asked him what he's up to these days, to which he replied 'takin a break', and then I thanked him for years of great tunes. Anyhow, he was takin in the same movie...I wonder if he liked it as much as I did. ::
