  1. Why don't you take old man Recchi's cack out of mouth and wise up... Gomez ain't producing, he is paid to produce more than he is... you old fart

    grumpy-old-men.jpg

Gomez is producing pretty much at the same pace he was as a Devil and a Ranger. The Habs knew what they were getting.

  2. I was just watching Connected with PTS with Bob McCowan. McCowan said he has had phone conversations with various people that are claiming Crosby's family is trying to convince him to quit hockey. They are saying he has accomplished all he can in hockey and needs to seriously consider his health.

Obviously we have to take this with a grain of salt but it us odd how quiet the entire Crosby camp has been about his concussion.

    Time will tell...

  3. Hey Troll' date=' I mean Sloth, I cant wait until dies from a hit that could have been avoided had the NHL taken the necessary means and that it happens right in front of your eyes. We'll see where you stand. Lord knows the odds of that happening to McNabb are greatly reduced in the NFL because they have shown proper regulatory measures, although I am sure you wish someone like DeMarcus Ware could take care of said problem for you next year should Donovan somehow return to that shitshow.

Yes. I know...........but maybe you'll finally understand the point. Not that I am expecting it since I have pretty much seen drool dripping from your mouth which eventually turned to ice and stayed there just as we witnessed it with MaxPac on RDS the other night.

Let the record show I wish no ill will to Ottawa's first selection in the upcoming draft nor do I wish to see it happen to any hockey player.

I heard was a pretty decent player and I think the Sens made a great choice in picking him but if he dies, he dies. He'll have died a Senator doing what he loves and he'll enjoy all the virgins he gets in hockey heaven because he died a martyr for the greatest cause of all.....my viewing pleasure.

There are no virgins in hockey heaven... the players use them all up in Major Junior Hockey :)

  4. I guarantee you the amount of money Air Canada gives to the NHL is more helpful to the NHL then the amount of service the NHL gives to Air Canada.

The problem here is that Bettman looks like a fool publicly and therefore makes the NHL look stupid. He should have kept those comments behind closed doors until the league had time to speak with Air Canada directly.

The NHL has been discussing head shots, illegal pays, injuries etc for years but has done nothing...

The NHL loves to talk "precedent" when dealing with potential suspensions. So what is the precedent here? Say this play happens tonight in Toronto... same play and someone goes head first in to the boards because of a hit (intentional or not) and is killed... Does the player who caused the hit walk away free as a bird?

The point is there is no accountability right now. Whether a players means to or not they have to be responsible for their stick and body on the ice.

Right now the precedent is hit and the NHL will guess if the play was intentional or not... That is almost always impossible to determine. The only way to stop hits such as this is to make players realize there will be action taken of you go too far and seriously hurt someone.

There is no perfect way to handle this but all the NHL has done over the last few years is nothing... that is the precedent set.

  5. "If you cause a player to be injured, then you have to be responsible for the play that you're involved in, if there's any carelessness or recklessness in it."

    - Colin Campbell, on decision to suspend Alex Ovechkin for his hit on Brian Campbell.

    COCKMUNCHERS the lot of em

[color:purple]Maybe Colin Campbell should of had some input on the Chara hit and mentioned this.

  6. IF Chara had been suspended for the entire season and next as well there will still be a head shot this week and the next and the next.

I, personally, don't see a solution in site.

We don't know this for sure. If the NHL handed out serious suspensions and fines it may help to reduce the number of reckless plays.

Over the last 10 years we have seen many plays that should have warranted a longer suspension or fine. However since the NHL is unwilling to hand out such suspensions the acts keep happening.

Yes... accidents will always happen but players need to be accountable for their actions. It's possible that if there was actual accoutability that many of these acts could be prevented.

We won't know for sure unless the NHL acts.

  7. “We were racing for the puck and battling for position' date=' and the puck went by,†Chara said after the B’s eventual 4-1 loss. “I was riding him out, and it was very unfortunate that [b']at the same time I pushed him he kind of leaned and jumped into the glass extension. It’s very unfortunate.â€

Did Chara know where he was on the ice?

“I know we were somewhere close to the bench, but obviously it wasn’t my intention to push him into the post,†Chara said. “It’s very unfortunate. In that situation, things were moving fast, and I wasn’t trying to do that. I always play hard and play physical, but I’ve never tried to hurt anybody. I’m hoping he’s OK.â€

Asked if he was worried about getting a suspension, Chara said, “Obviously, I have to wait, but I don’t see it. Like I said, it’s very unfortunate.â€

    Fuck you Chara.

I agree... Fuck you Chara... your comment is ridiculous... I belleve what Chara considered a lean and jump was him pushing Pax into the boards.

  8. If Chara had kept his arm down, this may or may not have happened, BUT he wouldn't have been making contact with the guys head, which I believe is the cause of most of the out rage over it.

But, I can relate about his size. I'm in no way as big as him, not by a chance but I've been the same height (5'11") since I was 13 years old. During my years playing, I was at least a head taller then the majority of the other kids I played with/against up until midget & jr. I took a lot of elbowing penalties, and a lot of grief from my old man (who was a coach) so I learned to keep them down because I knew the ref would call me on it.

Chara should know better, in my opinion.

    I agree

A player has to be accountable for nimself and his stick while on the ice. Yes, the game is fast and it is likely Chara was just trying to hit Max into the boards. However he should have had some awareness of their location on the ice and therefore should have realized to maybe pull back at bit... he didn't and the result was intense.

    Chara should be held accountable.

  9. I'll answer that question when I get home from work Schwa. And yes, it's harder to be an F1 driver than those other sports pros for many reasons, the easiest being that there are only 24 drivers on the grid on Sundays. Many many more opportunities to be a baseball player. There are other reasons but that one is easy.

Back to work for a bit.

[color:blue]Here's how to become an F1 driver

    1

Get involved with karting at a young age. Most Formula 1 drivers begin their racing careers behind the wheel of a kart by the age of ten. Find a list of tracks in your area that are sanctioned by the World Karting Association, the authority for karting in the United States.

    2

Attend racing school. Reputable racing schools offer multi-day classes at tracks throughout the country. Learn the basics of handling a more powerful open wheel car.

    3

Move to Europe as a teenager. Get a ride in Formula 3 or Formula 3000. While a few drivers who honed their skills on the American circuits have successfully made the move to Formula 1, there is a much greater chance of success if you climb the racing ladder in Europe.

    4

Race hard and move to teams that offer a greater chance to finish on the podium. Attract the attention of a Formula 1 boss by performing consistently well in the lower levels. Find a good agent to help promote you and capitalize on your success on the track.

    5

Become a test driver for a Formula 1 team. It is preferable to start Formula 1 racing, but some current drivers first honed their skills as test drivers-developing race strategies through endless test laps as they learned the nuances of each track on the circuit.

    6

Find funding to support your campaign. Smaller teams with more precarious funding consider taking a driver who brings sponsorship to the team.

  10. I don't think there is a Universal Standard either. The ESPN article is an interesting read and was developed by some people with quite an amount of knowledge.

Should we all agree with it hook line and sinker... no

but it does give a hint of how the different abilities we consider athletic are attributed to different sports.

  11. I've always enjoyed this little link during discussions such as this. Take from it what you will...

  12. ZURICH, Switzerland -- Zimbabwe withdrew its bid to host the Women's World Cup in 2015 leaving Canada as the only candidate, FIFA said on Tuesday.

Canada's bid must be evaluated and approved by the FIFA executive meeting when it meets on Wednesday and Thursday.

Canadian sports minister Gary Lunn met with FIFA President Sepp Blatter on Monday to promote his country's bid.

    "We

If successful, Canada also would stage the Women's Under-20 World Cup in 2014 as a test event.

Canada previously hosted the men's U20 World Cup in 2007. Its women's team also has qualified for the 16-team 2011 World Cup kicking off on June 26 in Germany.

Zimbabwe officials acknowledged last month that their infrastructure was "the barest minimum" to stage the tournament, but hoped FIFA would show the same faith it had in South Africa to organize a successful men's World Cup last year.

FIFA's ruling executive panel will decide the hosts of five other age-group tournaments this week.

Ghana and United Arab Emirates are competing to host the men's U17 World Cup in 2013.

The UAE also has bid for the U20 event in 2013, against Turkey and Uzbekistan.

Turkey and Uzbekistan also seek hosting rights for the women's U17s in 2014 with Costa Rica and Ghana.

Wales is bidding for both tournaments in 2015: Against Chile for the U17 finals, and against New Zealand for the U20s

  13. I've seen 7 of the 10 movies nominated for best picture. Of those I would say The Kings Speech will win it.

The three I have missed so far are... Black Swan... Winter's Bone and The Kids are Alright.

There are movies I personally like more than The Kings Speech but I think it's the kind of movie the Academy will love and I wouldn't disagree with it as the winner.
