This is the press release sent out to the publishers Monday:
Moses Mayes, Winnipeg's explosive urban/funk groove collective, is happy to announce the June 20, 2004 release of it's second full length album entitled 'Needle to the Groove'. The release will coincide with their Jazz Winnipeg performance at Old Market Square with a following Canadian Jazz Festival and Club date tour in June/July. Early copies will be previewed at this year NXNE Conference in Toronto, ON where Moses Mayes will showcase June 12, 2004 at the 360.
'Needle to the Groove' follows the bands successful first S/T release - which won the 2001 Prairie Music Award for Outstanding Urban/Dance Recording and sold over 2000 stage copies since its release. The 12 songs featured on 'Needle to the Groove' represents the bands stylistic and musical maturity rooted in the performance of over 300 club and festival shows over four a year touring schedule. During that time, Moses Mayes has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with funk legends James Brown and Soul Manifesto and fellow Canadian urbanites the Pocket Dwellers, the Salads and the New Deal.
For press inquires and interviews, please contact info@mosesmayes.com or 204-295-7153.
For more information, please visit the bands website at www.mosesmayes.com
Thanks for all your support everyone! Our Ontario and East Coast dates will be posted at our site in the coming days!

Hey guys, grant from moses mayes here.
Yeah, going all the way to Toronto for NXNE, blows us away too, but I guess its one of those things you have to do for the industry sake of things. we have a new cd recorded and need to play it and give it to people who will all be convening on Toronto that weekend. i think we'll push our set no? another 15 mins..lol...we are playing the MARIA party (Manitoba Audio Recording Industry Association), one of the best organizations in Canada (and Manitoba) that helps Manitoban artist grow outside our prairie town...big props to them and Manitoba Film and Sound. So they'll be some of canada's best acts from Winnipeg with us that night, so, lots of great music to enjoy im sure.
As for Hamilton, yes! We will play there but not till July - we hope! We're coming back out to Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and possibly Nova Scotia. We're heading off to the Montreal JazzFest this year, very exciting and look forward to playing music again for a living.
The new CD sounds great and our Central Canada and East Coast Canadian dates will be announced soon.
More info at www.mosesmayes.com and check out MARIA's website at www.manitobamusic.com and get the low down on a huge database of prairie people.
thanks everyone, see you at the shows!

Winnipeg
1)the snow is finally gone
2)the exceptional amount of great bands and players from here
3)cheap living, generous people
4)once I leave Winnipeg, there's nothing for hours and hours
5)western Ontario (you people in the southern part are missing out on one of the most beautiful places in Canada

Yeah, the Revival Show was amazing, there are some pics posted on our site from that show, big up to the Pocket Dwellers for letting us play and bringing us out for two shows that weekend in March....those guys are amazing people.
As for the Hummers, yes, know them very well and you could say they are repsonsible for the big band style jam stuff that developed here. They used to play alot here in the peg and have released four albums, but lost some steam a couple years back when Mark (keyboard player for Hiway Freeker) left for Montreal for some schooling - amazing player, much respect. They did some touring awhile back, but after some line-up changes and some babies the boys just laid back and play winnipeg now with the occasional trip to Saskatoon - and release countless albums.
It's a shame that the rest of Canada could not enjoy them at their peek when they packed Winnipeg's Pyramid Cabaret with 500+ dancing peoples...ahhh, the memories.

LOL....I know I don't use this board all the time, but I had the user number 420 when I signed up years a go and now I log on today for the first time in awhile and now I'm #418!!!
What gives!!! Who stole my number (and this is all said with me laughing here...)
I just want my special 420 number that everyone freaked out about when I got it when I first signed up...you know what I'm saying...lol
Cheers all!
