  1. Yeah, Corey, when the story was first being publicized, it was being presented entirely one-sided--whether that was a result of them reporting only the information they had at that point, or some kind of bias, I know not.

  2. I totally agree Morgan. The more details emerge, the more it appears this wasn't simply a case of a driver with a bad case of rage going off on a cyclist.

If I were driving (especially a convertible, exposed) and a dude was attacking me, holding on, and I was attempting to call for help, I'd likely be driving extremely erratically as well.

One of the new details that has come to light is the fact that the victim was allegedly drunk, having had an altercation earlier in the evening with his girlfriend (?) and the police (I just heard a brief snippet about this on the radio this morning, not the whole story, so I'm unsure about that full details there).

Anyway...from what we know now, it sounds like neither party is entirely blameless in this tragedy.

  3. I, currently, can assist with specific issues--and perhaps/hopefully find a solution.

Solving problems that generally accompany all large companies: Maybe next year.

That whole "please hold for a call from..." has always been amusing to me...

Quick first thought/response, "Yeah, right"...then I immediately hang up.

Of course, that was back in the day when I answered calls from unrecognizable numbers (life before call display sucked ass..true, life has very few suprises these days..but I would not want to go back).

  4. Folks, if you have a problem with Rogers, as some have indicated here, please contact me. Thank you.

As some of you know, I work for Rogers.

As some of you also know, I like to help--and have helped several people here.

Not cuz I'm a big corporate flunky, but because I hate working for a company that treats customers badly--I know how it is, I've had issues as a customer with this company myself.

We had a big "employee survey" this year and I rendered my opinions openly and honestly--checking the boxes about my unhappiness with aplomb--and when they asked for specifics/comments, I said, "How can I confidently work for a company that allegedly stands for good customer service and/or puts the customer first, when at least 10 people I know, personally, have contacted me in the 3 years I've worked here, to complain about an issue that OUR customer service could/would not solve?"

I don't think I used the word "bullshit" but I am pretty sure I got my point across.

Anyway...I am sure I was not the only employee expressing this kind of sentiment...

Following the survey, a big employee newsletter came out, with new processes/procedures to follow in the event of "someone we know" having an issue...it blows my mind that Rogers had to take this route...can't we fix it at the source? (that's what I'll be saying next year in the employee survey, if I'm still at Rogers).

Anyway...if this new helpline is overrun with queries/issues, that might help in fixing the issues at the source in the future...fingers crossed!

So! If you have an issue with Rogers, please let me know!!

  5. I totally understand that, but we are talking about TWEETING versus SEEING Phish. I know he was trying to live up to his commitment which is very respectful and I know that he lived up to his commitment because I saw the Tweets coming out, which I now know where unfortunately coming from the parking lot. I thought he was in the show at the time.

I'm just wondering if they had bought his tickets for him.

Whether or not they paid for his tickets is entirely irrelevent--he had committed to providing this service (to a fantastic site that has a ton of people following it and whose followers enjoy it and have come to depend upon it as their link to the Phish shows) and was determined to do what he'd agreed to do.

His efforts were admirable and any suggestion that his actions should be derided because he "wasn't paying attention to/focussing on the music" are ludicrous. He is all about the music. Anyone that knows him will tell you that.

But he is also a guy who follows through and he was simply trying to do what he had committed to do. And would never have left the venue had he not been assured reentry.

So, while some people might have said, "Hey, I'm in the show, Phish is starting..fuck that blog thing I'm supposed to be doing.." he did not choose that route.

  6. But couldnt you have just said " fuck tweeting"? Isn't it about the show anymore?

I don't think you would have hurt the blog. Or did they pay for your tix and VIP ?

If he'd been told he wouldn't be allowed back in, I'm sure he wouldn't have bothered. However, he had made a commitment and was attempting to live up to it.

  7. Because these policies aren't set up with spun wooks in mind..these are policies that apply to all events...they are only going to scan your ticket once and then it's been used (unlike Raptors games where they will scan you out and then scan you back in again if you want to go for a smoke). So, having another ticket should mean you're fine.

I do this all the time at Jays games and they say, "You know you can't come back in, right?" and I say, "I have more tickets..." "Oh, OK!"

  8. Basher got screwed entirely...had a bunch of tix...went in, realized his iphone had no service (and he was supposed to be tweeting for yemblog tonight), went back out to car to get BB to see if that would work...long story short: Got walked out (despite having several unscanned tix in possession) and told if he tried to get back in again would be arrested for trespassing. He had even purchased last-minute VIP tix so he could have that experience...now he's only getting the lot experience...

  9. Do you know what time it starts?

Quote from NOW interview this week:

When Phish covered Roses Are Free, your band got roped into the jam band scene. Is that still the case?

That’s dying down a bit. I made sure of that. Probably not the best career move, but I can’t hang with that. I like Trey [Anastasio] as a person, but as far as the music goes, all that jam band shit makes me want to puke. I’m just not that kind of dude, and I don’t think Mickey is either.
