Velvet Posted June 9, 2002 Report Share Posted June 9, 2002 nero @ the Canmore Hotel (the 'Ho'), Canmore, Alberta Though we booked it to Canmore from Banff after the gig last night, we had plans to drive back to Banff this afternoon to take the gondola up Sulphur Mountain. Before we left we ran into the Banff booker (she lives in Canmore and she's beautiful) and we told her what we were up to. She insisted that you gotta either smoke a joint or have sex in the gondola on the way up, she's done both. I looked around at the three guys in the band, turned back to her and said maybe we'd better just stick to the joint. "Unless you're up for a gondola ride," I quickly added. So the four of us ended up in Banff at John's place (he had gotten the lift passes for free) and rolled one for the trip. Jay and Dave rode the nonsmoking gondola and Shane, John and meself opted for to make ours smokin'. Nice ride, and we scaled the patio to the top. Canada's nice. On the way back down Jay inflicted some emotional scarring onto a small child who was unfortunate enough to notice Jay's antics from a passing gondola. Back in Canmore we ran into a few people we had met at previous shows, which is always great, and we geared up for the fun night that so many folks had told us to expect here in Canmore. They weren't kidding. First night was packed to capacity and nero kept the dancers moving. Great show, great night. Upstairs afterwards we partied in my room for awhile, I encored for a bit, and we went to bed, each of us with our own room for the first time this tour. Spent the next day doing some business and killing time 'til the show. Second night was capacity, with a lineup, and lots more dancers. nero played really well, as they always do when a good crowd is digging it. Sold a bunch of cd's and drank a lot of beer, and went to sleep fairly early (4am?) in anticipaton for the next day's drive to Regina. All in all, Canmore was great, one of those places we can't wait to come back to.
