The "weird-signage" trend did not stop in Lexington, Ky. It only got stranger as it headed West. Power Rankings reader A.C. informed me that, during Big Monday's San Diego State-Wyoming tilt -- which took place an hour after the Utes fell to New Mexico -- a man was holding up a sign behind one basket that read "Every Sports Phan Needs Fluffhead" on the front and "That's Right, Fluffhead Newbs" on the back. Which had nothing, other than the ESPN acronym, to do with the game. The man was a Phish fan who had driven 50 miles from Cheyenne, Wyo., to Laramie to get on TV after promising on a Phish message board that he would display signage referencing the jam-band's song Fluffhead. He succeeded, and a fellow conspirator snapped this surveillance-quality photo of the geeky feat. This is what Phishheads have taken to doing following the break-up of their beloved quartet. The band must be mighty proud.
