Rossolee Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 Howdy folks- We were supposed to go to the DSO show this weekend, but the show was cancelled due to the unfortunate passing of Scott Larned So we changed road trip plans and went to Rochester to catch Reid Genauer and the Assembly of Dust. During the day we checked out the George Eastman House museum. Eastman was the founder of Kodak. The museum had some great displays of photography (Mt series, Portraits from American Music, and George Weston) The George Weston photos were mostly black and white. A friend of Ansel Adams, his wilderness photos are very similar to A.A's work. The house was interesting too. A turn of the century estate(a national historic landmark) 35,000 square feet, 37 rooms... grand old stuff. http://www.eastmanhouse.org/ Working up an appetite we went to Dinosaurs BBQ. We've been a bunch of times. This place is awesome if you're a fan of true wood smoked BBQ. We had fried green tomatoes with cayenne buttermilk ranch dip, followed by a smoked cheddar cheese ale soup. The dinner we split a full rack of ribs, with sides Cajun corn and real mashed potatoes with gravy. Throw in the picture of Yuengling Lager during dinner. It was nap time after this! Awesome joint for food!! http://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/rochester/index.html Saturday nite- we caught Reid at the Club at Water Street Music Hall. Sort of a smaller version of the WS Music Hall. Decent venue. AOD put on a fine show. Some new stuff, some Reid(Strangefolk) nuggets as well. Nate Wilson tore up the place with his B3 and piano work. He does a lot work and is a licensed photographer for WSP. His website has some great pics, especially the WSP stuff. He mentioned that he needs to upload a ton of stuff still. http://www.tgsporch.com/ A phun road trip and some great music! Cheers!!
