THU AUG 04 :: "SECRETLY CANADIAN/SONGS:OHIA's JASON MOLINA"

MAGNOLIA ELECTRIC Co. - http://www.secretlycanadian.com/magnolia/

After retiring Songs: Ohia, Jason Molina started up Magnolia Electric Co, a new avenue to explore his country-rock. The name of the new group was taken from the title of the last Songs: Ohia record and proved to be the appropriate connection from the past to the next phase of Molina's projects. The early makeup of the four-piece band in 2003 consisted of Pete Schreiner (Panoply Academy, Coke Dares) on drums, Mike Kapinus (Okkervil River) on bass and trumpet, Jason Groth (Impossible Shapes, John Wilkes Booze, Coke Dares) on guitar, and Jason Molina providing the other guitar and vocals. Magnolia Electric Co recorded Trials & Errors live in Brussels in 2003, which Secretly Canadian released in January of 2005. With later tours, Magnolia Electric Co shifted the lineup of the band, adding Mark Rice (Impossible Shapes, John Wilkes Booze) on drums and moving Schreiner to bass and Kapinus to trumpet and keyboards, while Groth and Molina remained on guitar. The upcoming studio debut of the Magnolia Electric Co will be released in spring of 2005 on Secretly Canadian.:: Guests, GRAND BUFFET, JON-RAE & THE RIVER

FRI AUG 05 :: "FREE ADMISSION ROCKER!"

ANAGRAM - http://www.geocities.com/anagramis

At its most idealistic, punk rock calls for the democratization of band and performer, the lowering of the stage to the level of the spectator. Anagram are the kind of band that'll make you regret that kind of romanticism. Built on a foundation of bassist Chris Taylor's menacing low-end pulse and drummer Clayton Churcher's shotgun beats, Anagram's music begins with a black cloud that -- courtesy of the increasing tension between Willy's piercing leads and John Schwartz's atonal saxophone squawks -- gradually swirls into a storm of hellfire, with frontman Matt getting burned alive in the middle. As an audience, we are no longer observers of a mere performance, but eyewitnesses to a scorched carcass convulsing at our feet..

SAT AUG 06 :: "RETURN OF THE CLUTCH TRIBUTE!"

THE GNOME ASSASSINS - No Web Available

Heavy riffs, furocious vocals, pounding rhythms and pullverizing songs. The Gnome Assassins are one of the most destructive rock forces in the Hamilton music scene. Oh, did we mention they do CLUTCH & KYUSS covers? Fantastic.
