badams
Adrienne Clarkson is hoping to do for women's hockey what Lord Stanley did for the men's game. The Governor General has announced the creation of the Clarkson Cup to honour excellence in Canadian women's hockey.Clarkson says she wants to follow the lead of her predecessor, Lord Stanley, who created the Stanley Cup.She says the idea sprung from the growing interest and respect of Canadians for women's hockey.Beth Biggs, a senior instructor of the Fine Arts and Craft Program of the Nunavut Arctic College in Iqaluit, has been commissioned to create the trophy. It's expected to be ready by May.
