Meanwhile, all Pakistan got out of Bush's visit there just before was a pat on the back for keeping al-Qaeda at bay. And as Pakistan's The Times put it,

The difference between the two relationships [between the US and India and the US and Pakistan] is that India interests the US, but Pakistan worries it.

Bush's only explanation for the difference in treatment was that the two countries were, well, just different.
