Guest Low Roller Posted June 23, 2006 Report Share Posted June 23, 2006 Yeah, that's just a ridiculous, yet well-timed, publicity stunt on his end.What actually happened was the owner of Cristal champagne was asked what he thought of the champagne being directly associated with the bling lifestyle, and he said, tongue-in-cheek, that the other champagne companies probably wouldn't mind being associated with the lifestyle either.Jay-Z took that as implying that Cristal wanted to disassociate itself from the bling-infused image, and made a big stink about boycotting the brand which was picked up by the Asssociated Press.Then he announced his tour four days later.That's the kind of marketing savvy that bands are lacking nowadays.
