kc
PJC Presents MARACATU NUNCA ANTES www.nuncaantes.ca Saturday, Oct.7th Pepper Jack Cafe www.pepperjackcafe.com $10, Doors open 9. Band starts at 11pm With Special Guest band leader EDER O ROCHA Eder is considered to be one of the most crucial people involved in the development of a new street in Brazilian music. This is a movement that began with Chico Science and exploded into the mangue music scene and the revival of traditional musical styles from Recife, Pernambuco. Eder has been playing in the traditional Maracatu Nacao Estrela Brilhante for 13 years under the tutelage of the infamous Mestre Walter de Franca. His work with the music of maracatu in Sao Paulo has lead to development and formation of various percussion groups. Aline Morales credits Eder with opening the doors to her entrance into Nacao Estrela Brilhante. A whole generation of young percussionists, including Aline and her master Lenis Rino, list Eder as a major influence. EDER "O" ROCHA is a percussionist who combines a deep first-hand knowledge of the traditional musical styles of Northeastern Brazil with a thorough formal musical training. Jay Funk Dawg
i booked these guys for NYE and it was spectacular... The band first played on stage, but by the end of the show.. the dance floor tunred into the stage... with the entire ensemble playing right next to the dancers... The band is led by some very beautiful brazillian people... I've caught them in Kensington Market for Pedestrian Sundays a couple of times and are well worth checking out...nice work kenny..j
