backbacon
Hi,I bought a dvd in scotland only to find out I can't play it because it is in PAL format. I've spent a couple hours poking around on the internet to find a solution but it always seems to come to buying something or not figuring out something. Does anyone have experience with converting from PAL to NTSC? I wanna watch my dang Eddie Rose dvd already! Thanks.
kookycanooky
your computer should be able to play it if you have a DVD drive,
ollie
Get one of those $30 cheapie DVD players from Future Shop or Best Buy (e.g. NOVA, KACO). They play PAL DVDs.
Esau.
Nero will do the conversion for you, which would be the easiest option in my opinion. You just have to rip the DVD (using Dvd Shrink for example) then when you go to burn the ripped files make sure your output stream is set to NTSC, usually Nero will prompt you for this since we're in the NTSC region. There is also a free program called 'VobBlanker' that will convert PAL to NTSC, its more involved & you'll still require DVD Shrink to make the back up first. I've never actually tried this program so I can't say how well it works.
