I just finished reading a Jambands.ca Cavern thread today about how a few people were irritated by receiving unsolicited emails regarding Passenger and Chipotle gig announcements...to those that were bothered I sincerely apologize...I didn't mean any harm...I'm just trying to get the word out about our music... I went around and checked out email addresses on the Cavern site...I figured hey...these people might be interested in hearing about where we are playing etc...I didn't think about how it might be an intrusion ... maybe I should have thought more about it ...It sure sounds like people get a lot of spam...I do too...from companies trying to sell us stuff...junk mail/phone at home soilcitors...it's alot to sift through...somehow they get our email addresses/home addresses/phone numbers...I realize it can be a nuisance... I get alot of emails from bands from all over...from the States as well as more local acts...I usually just delete them if I am unable to attend the event...or sometimes I keep the email because they contain the names of venues I would try to book us into if we toured thru that area...I can' t remember ever asking to be removed from the mailing list...I wouldn't want to discourage an artist who's trying to promote him/herself...sometimes I even send a word of encouragement...such as...Rock the House dude!...or whatever to encourage them to keep going...as we all know it's a very difficult way to make a living... with the music industry in an increasing shambles and all sorts of great music being ignored by the general media, bands are left to their own devices and have to promote themselves somehow...so they send out emails that are available to them ...to people they think might be interested ...
