From a friend's board, someone is asking about the Dead in '69:

My old man was telling me about a concert he saw in Montreal...an outdoor festival...believe it or not he tells of The Dead being on one stage, and Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons on the opposite stage.

Anyway...he says all he remembers was a skinny bass player with long, straight hair almost to his knees....and a really big biker dude on keyboards, whose fingers were so big that my old man couldn't figure out how the guy could actually only press one key at a time.

This sound right - trying to figure out if his memory is accurate or if he was taking too much acid.

I don't see anything of the dead in Montreal in 1969, and I don't think Festival Express hit Montreal. The only thing I can see is 1967 at montreal expo
