The Dusty Owl Reading Series Present Oni the Haitian Sensation

Sunday 21 January

7pm

The Lookout Bar

41 York Street, Ottawa

No Cover

If you haven't been hearing the buzz about Oni the Haitian Sensation's new book Ghettostocracy . . . where have you been?

For our first reading of the new year, we're pleased to be bringing back our friend Oni to rock the mike with readings from the first book of poetry published by a black woman in Ottawa. This book ranges from Ottawa winters to the streets of New York to the harsh realities of South Central Los Angeles, and delivers powerful, rhythmic, and moving poetry. Her mentor George Elliott Clarke has called Ghettostocracy "an unforgettable book by an inimitable, drop-dead gorgeous artiste." Her performances are electric, her personality is infectious, and her poetry will make you laugh, cry, and think. Come hear what the fuss is about!

Due to ongoing repairs at our usual venue Swizzles Bar & Grill, this reading will be happening at The Lookout Bar, 41 York Street (around the side and up the stairs) here in sunny Ottawa

After the reading, as always, there will be an open mike for anyone who wants to bring poems, stories, or songs, and Dusty's famous Object of Desire contest.

See you there!
