FairySari
I moved away from the area like two years ago - are Second Spin and Flash and Crash really gone?Sonic Boom is huge though, and open late... I seem to always find what I'm looking for there. I'd think it would be a big enough draw without the couple of other tiny used CD stores around. The Chameleon
I live on Queen St. and have noticed many music stores go down....Penguin is not alone...recently Acid Records and 2 the Beat also closed.Sign of the times, the old formula does not work. Why should I have to pay $27 for an import CD when 90% of that cost is shipping and storage for the product. Why can't I walk into a store order it, then the burn it to CD or load it on to my I-Pod type device and then high quality print me a copy of the artwork for a reasonable fee.If that were the model I think more stores would survive. People still like going into a shop, bu this old "brick and mortar" model is broken.
Jaimoe
Criminal Records continues to be one of the treasures in the downtown (Queen & Spadina). It opened last year and kicks major ass both with prices and an exciting clothing and accessories line.
