Leaning towards original jazz-funk, fusion and world music, High Plains Drifter is a groove force who's goal is to keeps dancehalls packed and bodies in constant motion. High Plains Drifter draws inspiration from artists as diverse as James Brown, Breakestra Orchestra and Wes Montgomery. The group, known for their unpredictable stage show, has enjoyed collaborations with musicians from all over Canada. Formed in 2003 at Nova Scotia's premier Jazz School, High Plains Drifter has performed at the Evolve Festival, Halifax Jazz Festival, Come Together Festival and clubs across Central and Eastern Canada. In 2005, the band under the tutleage of Jay Cleary relocated to Toronto where they have become a staple on the summer festival and Toronto funk-rock scene. Known for unpredictable and spontaneous collaborations, High Plains Drifter 's sound knows no boundaries of sonic exploration and discovery. High Plains Drifter has colloborated with members of Wassabi Collective, The Jimmy Swift Band, King Sunshine, God Made Me Funky, Slowcoaster, Chameleon Project, DJ Rainforce, Diesel Dog, Mark Wilson and the way it is, Gisto, Resinators, Irie Band, Caution Jam, Andru Branch and the Halfway Tree and many other instrumentalists.
