On his new global fusion opus, "Shivaboom" (eccodek's third CD), Canadian sound scientist Andrew McPherson joins a rarefied ranks of musical alchemists, inviting world-class vocalists and players from Mali, India and Turkey to roam freely through his lush sonic panoramas of deep bass, wide grooves and soaring melodies. On stage, the 6-piece band is joined by Juno-winning Indian vocalist Kiran Ahluwalia, with whom Eccodek has played sold-out shows at numerous jazz festivals. New York DJ Derek Beres drops in to round out the vibe. As a core member of the Globesonic collective, this author, jourmalist and yoga instructor is a pioneer, exploring the crossroads of traditional, mythic and urban musical culture.

About The Small world Music Festival

The Small World Music Festival has become the premier celebration of world music in the world's most diverse global crossing for music and art. Running from September 18-30 at a dozen venues all across Toronto, this year's 7th annual edition is the most ambitious yet, featuring 19 concerts and workshops that cover the most eclectic range of sound in the festival's proud history.

Appropriately, GAP Adventures, the world's most cutting-edge adventure travel company based right here in Toronto, is the lead sponsor of the 2008 Small World Music Festival. The Festival is also supported by all three levels of government: the Canada Council for the Arts, Heritage Canada, Ontario Trillium Foundation, and Toronto Arts Council. Other keystone partners and supporters include: QUEX Inc., Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Roy Thomson Hall/Massey Hall, Lula Lounge, CBC Radio, NuFunk.ca, Batuki Music, Worlds of Music Toronto, CIUT 89.5 FM, CHIN Radio, ComPosition Music, Dinamo Design, MGS Marketing, Long & McQuade.

The Small World Music Festival will change the way you think about music, and open your ears to a whole new world of sonic possibilities. Enjoy the shows!
