CyberHippie Posted October 20, 2003 Report Share Posted October 20, 2003 It would be nice to hear what Fantino has to say about this: Toronto — People caught with marijuana in their possession should once again face criminal charges, Ontario Provincial Police have been told. The order follows a court decision last week that reaffirmed a law making possession illegal. The law had been cast into doubt after an earlier court ruling found a law prohibiting small amounts of marijuana to be unconstitutional. That decision led many police forces to simply confiscate the marijuana, but to refrain from laying charges. Police forces in Toronto and York region will also resume laying charges for possession. The federal government is currently contemplating legislation that would decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana.
