I have nothing but very fond memories of Dr. Brown a very kindly dentist, with a heavy hand for nitrous which instilled in me a life long aversion to CBC radio and most classical music in the absence of said gas.

I shouldn't gest at all he was a very beautiful man and it took me a few readings of the same article to realize that this was in fact our family's dentist for years. Although always closeted I gather, the articles mention a live-in male roommate with a severe drinking problem but some sort of an 'apartment sharing' arrangement that people are supposed to read through the lines. It sounds like he got into a toxic relationship and became the victim of severe violence- which transcends sexual orientation.

I did realize at a fairly early age that most dentists, even those with the drollest bedside manner, probably don't wear kimonos in the office. But even post-Aids when unfortunately a considerable portion of his practice deserted him we stayed with him. Very very sad story.
