jaybone
Hey all- just wanted to put the word out to all who may not have heard that Moonraker will be in town on Saturday. The sound is live electronic with a female vocalist (difficult to put a label on it, but that's something we should all be used to by now). Moonraker formed while members were attending Berkley Jazz School in Boston Ma. and they all now reside in NYC. They aren't a "jamband" exactly but they are amazing musicians with great grooves and are known for their super tight live show. The dj's lined up for the night are all heavy hitters in the Toronto music scene (and wicked-nice guys taboot). Angus Robinson (aka Madhatter)is one of T.O.'s premiere breakbeat specialists bringin the nu-skool funk and Keith Kelly (aka K2) is the man behind Oscilate Records serving up soulful drum'n'bass. Should be a great night of music and it's Lauzan's birthday so let's get down and check out something a little different here in the Ottawa music scene. I've got a massive crew from T.O. coming down to party so let's show 'em how we do it here in d'ottawa.

bradm
I have a favour to ask: I'd really appreciate it if someone who was going to Moonraker but not going to Bob Wiseman could stake out a space for me. I want to tape Moonraker, and the best place to do that is on that raised section up against the wall on the right side of the floor as you face the stage; when I tape at Babylon, I usually grab a chair/table at the part of that section closest to the stage, pretty much right up against the right-side PA speaker, overlooking the way to the door out into the back alley. (I tape the mics to the wall, up as high as I can reach, and leave the DAT in a chair.) I'm hoping to tape Bob Wiseman and Moonraker, but that'll mean that I'll get to Moonraker very much after when the best spaces will be taken. If someone could put a jacket or two on a chair in that space (and let me know when I get there), I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Brad

The big question is whether I'll get there before they start or not. I think this might be another "Nick Of Time Taping" experience... bradm
quote:Originally posted by Dr. Cheech: Just thought of something: Does Moonraker allow taping?Yes, they do. Their website doesn't have a taping policy listed, but I put a posting on their message board asking about it, and it's cool. Aloha, Brad P.S. If a space ends up being saved for me, and other tapers show up, they're welcome to use it.
