  1. The best moe. show I saw was 7.11.98. To this day it might be the best concert I've ever witnessed. It was a real eye opener for me and I've loved moe. ever since. The venue was a small theatre right above an art gallery. No Doy was just released and they were still developing their following. But those in attendance witnessed one of the highlights of my concert going career.

In fact moe. references this show right before the encore on 7.18.98 (Warts and All 4) and mention that we were one of the loudest/best crowds they have played to. Thats simply because the show was off the hook. So for me, I liked moe. the best when they were a four piece back in 1998.

    07/11/98 7th House, Pontiac, MI

Set I: Head, Spine Of A Dog, She Sends Me, Backwoods, Nebraska, Akimbo, Time Again, Mexico

Set II: St. Augustine, Big World> Meat> Telstar> Meat, Water, Don't Fuck With Flo> Fire> I Know You Rider, Letter Home, Rebubula

    Encore: Brent Black

the setlist might not look like much but it blew my mind

  2. I can't get enough of this release. I've had copies of these shows for years but to hear such a clean copy was well worth the wait. I love Wonderin' without the doo wahs of the Shocking Pinks and to hear Danny Whitten perform Come On Baby is priceless. I'm a big fan of Poncho but I would love to have seen Danny in his day. Anybody waivering on this one, don't think too hard - just buy it. Simply awesome! 12+ minutes of both DBTR and Cowgirl ea. WOW!

  3. So the archives start tomorrow. Very exciting for Neil fans. But I want to know why on the packaging does it state "Neil Young Performance Series Disc 2"

Did I miss something? Was there a first release? A sticker on the package announces it as the debut release. Just curious I guess. I've been waiting a long time and hope I didn't miss something.

  4. I used to be a big Van Halen fan in the day/ I saw them live at least 7 times (all with Sammy Hagar). I like Sammy Hagar and I think the ultimate tour would be to see them tour with both. A couple of years ago, Sammy and Dave toured together and they would dis' each other during their sets. I'm sure it would have been a riot. Anyways my point being it was always about Eddie. If Dave was that good they would have named the band Lee Roth.

  5. Looks like Adam Terrell is playing with them tonight. As for Trey it mayu be wishful thinking, he just started his own tour last night behind bar 17.

My source was PT and it might be a little off, looks like some confusion on the pt board tonight. Also looks like Gordon Stone is there.

  6. Has anybody seen the moe. dvd from the Fillmore 2005? I didn't even know it was out until a quick visit to moe.org. I guess my next question is, ca you buy it in store or do you have to order it online?

  7. San Francisco has got the best shopping I have ever seen in the world. I am far from being a shopper but I've never seen so many cool things in one city. Check out Ameoba Records in Haight Ashbury. Best record store I have ever visited. Plus they sell all of the Fillmore posters.

It was also nice to visit Alcatraz when you know you can leave.

  8. to be honest I didn't have Stubb's but I have a friend who lives in Austin and thats where he took us. He told me it was the best and my stomach believed him.

if you do get the chance to see tv on the radio...do it, I saw open for Franz last year at the Ricoh not expecting anything and they blew me away. They have this sound that I don't how to explain other than saying the word sonic. Rolling Stone just gave their new album 4 1/2 stars. I would love to see them again.

  9. Austin is a great ciry. Live music capital of the world. If you get the chance make sure you get to San Antonio. Only an hour outside of Austin. Its a beautiful city. Even if you just stop for a day its well worth it. The river walk is beautiful. It is the home of America's most travelled tourist attraction, the Alamo.

When we were in Austin we went to the Continental Club, Playboy called it one of the ten best bars in the USA. Stevie Ray Vaughan used to be the house band. When we were there Gordie Johnson and Grady were playing a couple of times a week. Its a great city, I still think of the Texas pit Bar-b-Q. If you are not vegetarian, go to Rudy's the best Bar-be-que I've ever had.

  10. I don't know where you can get a recording of this show. But Neil does have an archived release coming out next month. He is going to release a live album, Live at the Fillmore East. I think this was a recording from 1970 with Crazy Horse. Could this be the start of the long awaited archives that he talks about? If it from the shows he played in 1970 it may contain a killer version of Wonderin'. Its great to hear this song performed with the Horse rather than the Shocking Pinks. I personally think this release is very exciting.

  11. If anyone gets a chance to check this out, i highly recommend it. I went to the 18th annual festival and was absolutely blown away. To this day they were the best concerts I ever got to see.

All bands play acoustic. When I was there the line up was Neil Young, Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Sonic Youth, Ben Harper and Eddie Vedder. Best part was - it happens twice, 2 concerts both Saturday and Sunday!

Paul joined Neil to sing Only Love Can Break Your Heart. Neil, Ed Ved, and Ben Harper all joined Paul for a rockin' version of Hey Jude.

My advise is that if you like the bands on the bill and you don't have the money to go. You still have time to borrow it.

Good luck and I hope I get to read a review of someone who makes the trip to Cali from this board.
