  1. I can't beleive the only late game on in the West was Seattle/Arizona. I might have to bite the bullet and order Sunday Ticket. It sucks we had to watch the birds flap around while a rematch of the AFC conference championship was going on. At least Alexander had a decent running day and Seattle won.

BTW thanks for 9/9/99 show Booche. That got me through the 2AM - 6AM driving shift from Trois Riviere to West of Ottawa.

  2. I beleive we've done at least 3 setblenders with Them Slammin' Jackasses. The last one was this past New Years on Granville Island in Vancouver. We alternated 4 sets and actually blended a couple times by learning one of the other band's songs. For example Themasses started a Slammin' song ("eat more pie"), Slammin' got on stage and blended with us, and then we slowly left the stage and Jack finished their own song).

  3. If we get the gig in Saskatoon (which is looking good) for Saturday night, than we don't have to drive like mad to Winnipeg (we'll play there Sunday instead). So we'll be able to crash in Cow Town on Friday night. I'm sure Benny could put a few of us up as well.

    Congradulations C-Towns. Boy or Girl?

  4. My friend Steve is in his 3rd year of a stone masonry apprenticeship at BCIT. He goes to many of the Jamband shows in Vancouver and I'm sure he would like to talk to you about his stone masonry experience help you through his connections. If you want his contact info please send me a PM.

  5. I guess there's more than one Duran Duran Duran.

Who would have thunk it? This is the one playing the festival

    DURAN DURAN DURAN

    Vancouver, BC

Comprised of members from Slow Nerve Action & Blue Quarter, D3 play acoustic beer-induced cover songs from the likes of Frank Zappa, Tenacious D, Ween, Beck & many more.

  6. I saw the Victor Wooten Band two days ago in Seattle. Two other Wooten brothers play guitar and keyboards with Vic (there are 5 Wooten brothers and they all play music). It was a wicked show with a 5 bass solo showdown at one point.

Wooten did play lots of his patented hammer-on double pluck slap crazinees but during his 20 minute solo he used all kinds of techniques from loooping to tapping to delay swells to artificial harmonic melodies. Most of the show were great Funk tunes off of his latest album 'Soul Circus'.

One of the songs is a tribute to all of the influential bassist of the past 40 years. During the song they would say name of a great innovative bass player (like 'Jaco') and then Victor would emmulate his style. It was really cool.

  7. If you don't want to pay the $20 for Zilla at the Boot,

Kokanee After Dark presents Themasses - free admission!

At the GLC (Garibaldi Lift Company) in Whistler

    April 8th 2005, 10:30pm - 2am

  8. are things like shoes cheaper or more expensive in BC?

I went to Univeristy in Kingston and grew up in BC and found that prices are pretty similar in BC and Ontario (maybe slightly cheaper in ON). On one hand you know where all the good stores and deals are where you live right now. On the other hand, shopping would be a great opportunity to explore your new town.

  9. I'll be seeing him in Vancouver one week from tomorrow.

I'm going to the Queen E show as well with a little Lotus afterwards downstairs in the Media Club.

Last Time I saw Pat Methaney in Vancouer (1998 I think) He played all of the tunes off his most recent album (Imaginary Day at that time) and a couple of other favourites as well.

  10. Hey Harpua,

We moved our Golden shows one day later to February 18th and 19th. Unfortunately our Fernie show was cancelled due to poor bar attendance at the El Dorado over the last few months. I hope you can still make one of the shows in Golden.

I can't wait to snowboard on Kickinghorse for the first time. How are the conditions right now?
