  1. I watched the Suzuki episode last night and found the host, Melissa Auf Der Maur, extremely annoying. The program seemed to be more about her travelling around in her fancy tour bus and singing crappy songs than about the life and legacy of David Suzuki.

The whole show had a terrible flow and every Suzuki ideal that she presented seamed to falter and had no connection to her next point. I wish the CBC could have found someone a little less flakey to the convey the points of such a wonderful public speaker, scientist, professor and environmentalist.

  2. Saturday night at the boot was sooo sick. That first set was amazing with a "Mondo Garaj" and a "Never give up" (one of my favourites). The dance floor exploded at the end of the night during a heavy "Massive" and the 3:30 AM acoustic jam in the lobby of the Hostel was a great night cap. Here's hoping they get one more chance to play at the boot before 'progress' takes it away.

  3. I saw it in Vancouver about a Month ago and really enjoyed it. About 10 minutes before the movie was about to start some one dropped a glass bottle that shattered and made a huge noise. A few seconds later a boozy smelling liquid trickled down the floor between the seats. We all had a good chuckle and were thinking, "damn I should have brought a flask".

Then right before the movie started someone else dropped and smashed a glass bottle. The entire theatre erupted in laughter. I guess it was a waste of booze but the pre-movie comedy made the flick even more enjoyable.

  4. I saw this Norwegian Ninja Tune band in Vancouver on Saturday and they completely blew me away. Live Drum n' Bass grooves with a full 10 piece band (inluding a Bass Clarinet and a Tuba). They worked some incredible samples into their songs and the whole band had a great energy. I highly recommend their show to anyone that likes live electronica or futuristic jazz.

Here are their remaining Canadian Dates:

08.07.04 Canada, PQ, Montreal, Montreal Jazz Festival

    09.07.04 Canada, ON, Toronto, Harbourfront

10.07.04 Canada, ON, Wasaga Beach Blues Festival

11.07.04 Canada, ON, Ottawa, Bluesfest , Black Sheep

    Jaga Jazzist Website

    Enjoy :)

  5. I really don't think the Green Party will win any seats in BC. It's gonna be almost entirely Conservative with a handfull of Liberals and a couple of NDP in Vancouver. The Green do have support but not nearly enough to win any ridings.

I really want to Vote NDP but I'm worried it's splitting the left vote just like the Reform/Alliance and PC split the right vote for the past 11 years.

Look how Nader helped Bush win 2000 (along with Bush cheating) Nader held the difference in Florida. A few seats won by a few thousand (maybe even hundred) votes are going to determine who wins the minority in Monday's election.
