there's also a pot cafe...i forget the name... (not sure if that's the one you're referring to KevO) on St. Denis and Mount Royal area I think...similar to how Roach a Rama in Toronto used to be.
There's a head shop called "Weedstock" on St. Denis south of Sherbrooke - not the greatest shop, but one nonetheless.
Je L'ai is expensive, but they have some nice pipes and bongs in there. My girlfriend and I were in there once looking at their stickers, many which include such ideolistic phrases as "Cars suck," and "Love Stops Terror" when we noticed this contradictory sticker: I guess in efforts to be all super liberal and all, they had a sticker that said, "Free Yourself From Money." So I was about to take one (for free), but then the clerk informed me that I had to buy it...

though that burger doesn't really help curtail the obesity epidemic, i commend Hardee's for stickin it out and staying true to their "burger joint" roots (mmm burger and a joint...could work well for me right now...but as long as it's a veggie one) They'll be the big winners (no pun intended) once this low-carb craze is over.

Demsky (bass) from Vanderpark with JD (drums) and Mikael (guitar) from Azuris Aurum will be teaming up together with a sax player (I believe?) to open the Slowcoaster show in Ottawa. They are called "Fever." Should be rockin.

yeah...it was totally weird. I got there just before 7:30 to a crowd of about 25 or so people. I don't think it was much more than that when the band hit the stage.
On Thursday nights at Cafe Campus it's "90s Rock Night" - which is probably why (just like bradm said) they want to get the band off the stage so DJs can start spinning other music...it's too bad that not much was known - us montrealers were speculating for days about this, and we got word only around 5:30pm about the early start...

awesome - lookin forward to the release party on the 18th at Casa.
peace!

I think I ate the stuff for about 2 weeks straight EVERY DAY when I was 16 and my parents left me home alone for 2 weeks. Now it's at random, but with lots of goodness: tuna, green/red pepper, cayenne pepper, green peas, corn (sometimes), extra milk for that saucy taste, and red onion. It can be damn filling.

see you all there

by "terrorist" I mean, as the leader of the PLO had its members hijack Western airliners and blew one up on a Cairo runway and, in their words, "teach the Americans a lesson for their long-standing support of Israel."
Oh, and by "terrorist" I also mean In Sept. 1972, terrorists in his Fatah-movement kidnapped and murdered 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympic games.
Arafat also indirectly led the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, a Fatah group that claimed responsibility for countless numbers of deadly attacks against Israeli civilians between 2000-2004. Though the media described a mere 'loose affiliation' between Arafat and this terrorist group, evidence indicates otherwise, with $50,000 a month being funnled by the PLO for bombings, snipings, etc. Look at http://www.ict.org.il/articles/articledet.cfm?articleid=431 if you want more info on the connection.
My views on Sharon? I don't agree with his political moves either. I believe in some circumstances Sharon has been too much on the offence. However I do believe that both states, Palestinian and Israeli, have a right to exist.
To compare Sharon to Hitler is absolutely incorrect, and I will excuse your ignorance with the assumption that you will do your research into your fraudulant association.
I do not condone violence. I just hope that with Arafat's passing there will be a new face to the peace process that does not support violence and of rearing a culture of hate. I hope that both Israel and that Palestinians can lay down their guns and work towards a more diplomatic means to acheive a more peaceful peace process.
-
Now there's one less terrorist in the world.
lets hope that this signifies a positive change, and a new chapter - a hope that both sides of this issue can find peace. Stop with the suicide terrorist bombings. Stop with the airstrikes. Stop the violence, stop the hate. Both Israel and the Palestinians deserve a homeland and peace. We're all human. Remember that.

i checked the cafe campus website, and there doesn't seem to be an opener, and it says something about the show starting at 7:30pm (doors 7pm). Also, it says that the location of the show is in the MAIN Cafe Campus...not Petit Campus where The Slip was - however, on Thursday nights at Cafe Campus it is "90s rock" thursdays which is extremely popular with the CEGEP crowd and they usually pack the house for it...i didn't see anything on the site about cancelling 90s nite in lieu of moe., so...does that mean moe. will be in petit campus??? That's probably 200 people capacity - at least! It doesn't make sense...but if it's true, that's gonna be one intimate moe. show. damn skippy. ::

New library for firebombed Montreal School

From Yahoo! news...
NELSON WYATT
MONTREAL (CP) - Excited children got their first look Tuesday at the new United Talmud Torahs elementary school library, rebuilt with an outpouring of international support after it was firebombed eight months ago.
A bigger space and about 13,000 books - many of them donated from across Canada, the United States and Israel - stood on gleaming new shelves in the library that was left a smouldering ruin by an arsonist last April. Eager little fingers thumbed the wide range of titles and curious eyes scanned the volumes for a good pick as staff prepared for the official opening Tuesday night.
"I'm actually a big fan of Harry Potter (news - web sites)," said Daniel Cohen, 11. "I was really amazed to see a huge Harry Potter book.
"I was very surprised to see all kinds of different books that were on display and I never knew about. I look forward to reading those books, too."
The youngster's enthusiasm was a far cry from the worried faces that gathered outside the school, which had anti-Semitic slogans written on one of its walls, after the fire.
The incident provoked outrage and support from such people as Prime Minister Paul Martin and Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe, who gave an undisclosed amount to get the library back on its feet.
The fire was the highest profile of a series of anti-Semitic incidents in Canada at the time and led to calls for even greater efforts against hate crimes.
Sleiman Elmerhebi, 19, and his mother Rouba Elmerhebi Faud, 36, are back in court Dec. 16 on charges of arson and conspiracy in the firebombing of the school.
