  1. This is quite an interesting event. Here is the press release. I will also be playing with the Steel City Dixieland Jazz Band during intermissions.

ARTISTS UNITE IN SUPPORT OF VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA

    September 15th, 2005

    Brantford/Brant County, ON.

The Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts will be transformed into a Bourbon

Street Mardi Gras on Thursday, October 6th, with all proceeds going directly to

the Canadian Red Cross designated for Hurricane Katrina Relief.

“MARDI GRAS NORTH†will see music professionals from inside and outside the

area coming together to produce the evening’s diverse program of blues, jazz

and gospel music under the baton of David Bowser, prominent Conductor and

Artistic Director of the North York Concert Orchestra. Several of the players are

coming from as far as North York where David is currently serving as Guest

Conductor of the North York Concert Orchestra.

The concept for the benefit was borne out of a passion to make a difference by

those willing to share a myriad of talent. Co ordinating the event with Bowser is

Shirley Roy, a Paris resident, who has worked with many of the symphonic

players who will be taking the stage that evening. Vocalists Lauren Roy

(Stardust Follies; Speakeasy Showband; Vibrant Magazine), Talk of the Town

Production’s Deano Wilson Rouse, and gospel singer Doreen Johnson will bring

their special talents to the mainstage. The Tim Turvey Trio, with Tim on

Percussion; Nick Bastian - Lead Guitar and Joel Banks on Bass Guitar. Kevin

Williams will be adding to this quintet with his flugel horn. Rounding out the stage

musicians will be symphonic musicians from the Kitchener, Hamilton and Toronto

    areas.

Live entertainment begins on Dalhousie Street at 6:30 with the CKPC band and

    the Steel City Dixieland Band.

Tickets for the show are $25 ($15 Child/Student) and can be ordered directly

from the Sanderson Centre Box office at (519) 758-8090 or 1-800-265-0710

This is an opportunity for our communities to make a significant contribution to

our southern neighbors in need. Round up your friends and family and really

    make a difference!!!

  2. Or, how about:

Musicians that dont learn the essentials of music theory and think that by wanking in some self-taught form of a pentatonic scale constitutes the essential vibrancy of 'improvisation'.

    Booche,.... fantastic statement!

  3. Thanks Lex!

About Brantford,..best paying hick town around!

I play in Brantford for the rent. lol - Over the last two years, I've been to Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, Waterloo, Guelph, Toronto, Hamilton, Stratford and other wee communities who love the jam. And many other things in the works from the East & the West. I've been quite busy!

    lex you are nice

  4. esau;

    - a musician knows who supports

"except for a few friends i have here"

    - perhaps!

    - no problem, just expressions

ollie - No band name. I freelance. I hire different folks all the time, for many different styles of show, standard jazz, avant-garde, reggae, funk, etc..

Like i've said before. I could care less if you pass me by, but some of the players who come out are up everyones alley here, mind-blowing mucisians sometimes.

  5. 101 posts doesn't seem like monumental effort here.

I noticed that when I supported other topics I got more responses on mine.

Like talking to someone once and them being more responsive to you because you now have started a more formidable relationship than just the "hi how are ya? type".

I understand how it works quite clearly. Especially after today - lol

I made a conscious choice to not join into discussions and keep myself neutral as a show promoting threader instead of,..well all the other things that happen. I chose this option because of the lack of response on the old board. So when the new board arrived, I made that decision. Which I thought was a good decision.
