  1. Too many choices. The fatties are almost becomeing Dead like in that they have have been around so long they are beggining to have distinctive eras.

The Phil's is probably the best of the Deanna 93 shows.

Many good shows in 97/98. The Mrs Robinsons from 97 was a radio broadcast and has great sound. An awesome absolute route to start. The Albion from 97 also has great sound.

2/14/98 is one of my favorite shows. The sound isn't quite as good as others but the energy makes up for it.

I'm just streaming the newly posted 99 show which was the start of the post Tyler era. Sounds great. A different feel with no B-3 (Rhodes I think)

Both 04 shows sound great and are worth getting. Heck they all are!!!!!!

oh ya get the acoustic shows too. The Lalunas from sept 97 is fantastic. The acousticats from Brantford in 97 is also a sweet listen as well.

    Long live the Fatties!!!!!!

  2. Hillside is great, however ever year it gets a little bigger and a little more restrictive. Last year they started searching bags for booze on the way in. I don't mind buying a few in the tents but if you want to sit out at the main stage its nice to have a cold one. There had always been an unwritten rule that as long as you weren't stupid and kept your bevy in a mug out of sight, no big deal. It's not like its hard to beat the system but I dislike feeling like a sneak. In the early 90's before "official" volunteer camping I remember driving on to the island and just setting up my tent.

All that being said its still a great festival in an awesome location. Be Good Tanyas are sweet.

Oh ya one more grip. Every year a big group of us reserve campsites. Last year we were beside overflow. The conservation guys were on us at 11;30 to turn off our music. They are like this every year. It didn't matter that everyone that was anywhere close to us was at our fire. (We had six sites in a row). We are not a rowdy or particularily loud group, most of us are in our late 30's & 40's. This year the conservation area designated the very best areas to camp as 100% radio free, No music what so ever. At a music festival. I suppose I won't mind this if this gets them to leave us alone.

    Still a great festival.

  3. I spent the afternoon doing my taxes listening to this show and elictville and some frontier town. Made what would have been an unpleasant experience enjoyable. Good shows all. Different feel from the different eras. Muscianship certainly progresses from the 93, although I quite liked listening to it.

I hope to make it out to at least one of those shows, however we have a baby on the way in about a month and that kind of changes things..................

    Cheers

  4. Right on Greg. I'm looking forward to giviing this a listen once I get it downloaded. I'm also looking forward to the Elocatville show. I haven't listened to it in something like 10 years. A memorable weekend for a whole wack of reasons.

    Cheers

Ps. This is Rob (my old account vanished on me and I thought I'd start a new one with the correct spelling :) )
