  1. polygamy is pretty universal in Jamaica, mon

considering how much Marley's music has made for people who had nothing to do with the music, you'd figure someone could toss someone integral to the music a little flow (though its anyone's guess whether its actually destined for any of the guys wives or children)

if your ass is shakin to the guys bass line, a little of the money you spend on the CD box set should go to the guy

  2. and if you arrive with a Tim Horton's coffee spiked with whiskey just after the show starts and act excited to get to your seat (but not drunk) they wave you through without checking said coffee

found that one out by accident... was sitting diggin the show for 10 minutes before I realized I was a smuggler

look professional, and they'll treat you like a professional ;)

  3. The Jacob Fred Jazz Oddessey did a 1 P.M. set before. How could one have slept through that?

sure wasn't lookin pretty... but I sure wasn't sleepin

Fat Cats > JSB Sunday night lineup works great for me... love both acts but, like most Ontarians, get to see the Cats far more often than JSB (who are also launching their tour off this performance, which, to me, is exciting!)... JSB's Hamilton performances aren't a great reference point of their power to rock-it... have usually found Guelph/Toronto shows have had bigger bangs (and a big crowd up for some dancin)

in any case, sounds like one big FAT dance party to me!

  4. good eye, some beautiful content indeeds

You like The Shins? You should.

caught them on Austin City Limits sharing the show with Flaming Lips (who opened the show)... worth looking around for (seen the Lips on YouTube but thats it)... The Shins set made an instant fan outta me, kinda made me think of The Minutemen and Talking Heads

    from an ACL write-up:

There are still "only in Austin" moments, such as a recent taping of the Shins, which was held up for almost 45 minutes because the free beer, an "ACL" staple, hadn't arrived. A staffer was dispatched to Junior's for a couple of kegs, and when the set finally got under way, one of the Shins joked that it was the first time he'd heard of a TV show delayed because of a beer run.
  5. wicked

the hummingbird is an awesome venue... saw Tom Waits there a while back, very classy joint... beautiful and stately... awesome for this sorta show

had just decided Darien was off the way too over-crowded list of coming events, though it was enormously tempting... saving my next phil show for the next big cash pile I bump into... and now looking forward to this! (without having to cross over into george bush's america, hate the border hassle)

  6. I thought D and T were great, was a heavier sound than I've seen from them, but dug it entiretly... the same the same the same tends to get boring boring boring... think it'd be kind of sad for them to drop the name, they have a cool history

no tapers that I saw BradM... was actually a little low in the attendance numbers, though they were warmly recieved by those who were there... a great show in my opinion

  7. I just popped back onto "the grid"

filed 5 years worth... only last year's could be e-filed so still waiting for my GST and 4 years of (small) returns... been just over 5 weeks... the e-file I got back in just over 2 weeks (figure they were double checking I was actually alive)

  8. yays, the point in a general nutshell... strip away your natural oils and replace them with artificial oils that attempt to mimic your own (not to be confused with being obliviously rank from a trip to good ol Benderville)

too many scientists crammed into labs trying to out-do Mom Earth with patented chemical stews... not enough natural historians studying whats worked very well for millenium

"get away from me, you hairy savages."

came across this interesting/squirmish tale yesterday of this guy who cured his athsma/hayfever by travelling to Cameroon and infecting himself with hookworm.

apperently athsma and hayfever are "western" afflictions... if you have the right parasites "on board" they'll keep you on the up and up (to paraphrase, you're essentially the planet they live on, so they want you around as long as possible)

little too hardcore for me but an interesting read (recommend you save the read for after dinner)

be sure to read through some of the refernce links he provides

  9. too recent of history for me, spent 5 years thinking a lot about it, from all sides... just starting to think and feel without factoring in elements of 911... looking forward to moving on... will check it out few years down the road
