one of my oddest memories of childhood was riding the GO Train into Toronto with my family to spend the evening at the Exhibition and it turned out Alice Cooper was playing that night... early seventies, half the kids on the train with their faces painted, everybody either lighting one up or huffing on a bag (yep, you heard right... glue sniffing was more than something everyone made fun of, back in the day)
the folks didn't enjoy it much (never took the GO Train with em again) but I thought it was pretty fun
-
saw him in Toronto quite a time ago... liked Cooper live a lot and the stageshow but didn't like the band with him (again, quite a time ago, know that he had a different band the year after)
if you haven't seen him its definately worth it... or even if you're just feeling like getting nostalgic... a true rock and roll show
edit to add: phffftt!! with Helix opening!!
"Gimme an R... "R!"... O... "O!"... C... "C!"... K... "K!"...
whaddya got??!! "ROCK!" and whatcha gonna do??"
I'm too broke, but definately go... it'll be a riot

yeah, but almost exclusively punk/garage/etc... Reigning Sound is practically a museum for that sort of thing, worth wasting an afternoon browsing and picking up a few things... like walking into an independent record store back in 1980-85, though they're up to date with modern alternative stuff too... they open and close late (whenever they feel like it, it seems... have wandered in at midnight) so worth peeking in if you're around there in the evening
Jimmy Vapid's place... of The Vapids
there's a link to the store in the above website
they have in-store shows there sometimes can be pretty fun

How many people can the saloon comfortably hold?
the saloon is a bit of an anomoly in time and space... tends to vary
never had a problem findin a spot on the dance floor

I tried a different tactic - instead of going online, I actually went down to the Copps Coliseum box office. My random wristband put me about 15 people from the front of the line. People were getting calls on their cell phones from thier friends who were trying from home on ther computer saying that both shows were fully sold out, but the people were still getting tickets from the wicket for another five minutes.
I was the first person in line to not get tickets. Bummer.
Who's got my heady extra for Toronto?
personally slept til 3 pm
Thom would've done the same

is Reigning Sound the one on Hess just south of King, the one that specializes in punk stuff?
punk stuff on original vinyl, no less
-
thats definately too bad... hate seeing small businesses close... hopefully not a trend... Hamilton's seen more than enough small businesses shut their doors and too many big box emporiums set up shop

this show was announced pretty quietly with pretty short notice...
imagine its to give an opportunity to attend to people who missed the initial announcement, but once they find out would trade all their Court of the Crimson King tour bootlegs to be there
... or what briguy said
... or what whiteymuseum said

I'd say make sure you get them this weekend to be safe QQC, Lou said he had a lot of e-mails about it... figure the club only holds a couple of hundred of bass-heads... could call there tonight and ask how sales are going just to be sure, 905-572-9242
have mine on hold (old friends with the manager)
definately as General Admission as it gets
-
yeah, what esau said
if you contact briguy or kc I'm sure they'll be most happy to make sure you're well looked after if you want advance tickets
likely be tickets available at the door, if it's inconvenient to pick up advance

jurors speaking on the news basically said it was in no way shown that the guy had any connection to what happened to the World Trade Centers
said the guy was a nutjob attention seeker... one juror quoted that "he should be put to death for being such a mean-spirited degenerate, but he wasn't charged with that"
apperently tried to join Al Queda but was kicked out shortly afterwards because he was off his kilter... was aware of the tactic of flying jets into high profile buildings, and possibly dreamed of doing so himself, but had no idea those planes were going to be hi-jacked and flown into the trade centers when they did
DA definately looked pissed he didn't get to fry a scapegoat... definately good news the guy is off the street in any case... I agree he didn't deserve the death penalty for something he wasn't involved in, even if he wished he had been
figure as an attention seeker, Moussaoui will be climbing the walls in solitary confinement... the new high tech solitary jails in the states are built in such a way that inmates don't ever see anyone else
