  1. hey Waters freaks - while you're awaiting word of the concert, dig his private diaries:

    http://www.ingsoc.com/waters/humour/rwdiary.html

    "Monday

Got up. Had a bath. Doctor came round - said they would have to operate to remove my sunglasses. Decided to give it a miss - after all, I've never seen Dave Gilmour in shades. "

    "Wednesday

Phoned Eric Clapton - but his mum said he can't come out to play with me anymore as I depress him. Talked to her about the war for a bit till she hung up. Mothers - they're all the same. Went in the studio and met some guy called Steve Vai - apparently he plays guitar. Asked him to put some stuff over my demos but he just warmed up for an hour, asked if it was OK and left. Dave and the guys were in the studio next door and sent through a demo they were working on to see if I would put some lyrics on it. I did, it went like this -

    Fuck off Dave Gilmour

And the rest of you too

    Keep your sodding ferraris

    Your mums smell like poo

    You got the floyd name

    but I know your game

    It's all metaphysics

    And I write better lyrics

Not my best work but I thougt it appropriate under the circumstances. Phoned my lawyer and asked him to phone Dave's lawyer and say that Dave was a wanker. And anyway, didn't I get a restraining order?? "

    Funny stuff

  2. Right on, glad people are happy about this. I’m pretty excited myself.

Hell, what's one more eh? I don't think I can miss this show...

What time do you think they'll actually start Bri?

They’re scheduled for two sets starting at 9:35. I hope you can make it.

Alabama Man, give me a call. We got to hook up. Cheers bro

The world knows Oteil Burbridge as the Allman Brothers bassist, and as a

founding member of the Aquarium Rescue Unit. In recent years Oteil and the

Peacemakers have brought a lot of attention to Oteil's skills as a band leader.

Now Hamilton has a chance to hear this Grammy-nominated musician at his

    peak!

    - - - - - -

Derek Trucks calls Oteil Burbridge "The Michael Jordan of the bass." That's

probably the best place to start.

Burbridge has always been in demand as a session and live musician. Recently

he was simultaneously a member of six different bands. He is probably best

known though for his membership in the Allman Brothers Band. His work with

the band has earned him two Grammy nominations for best rock instrumental, in

    2004 and 2005.

Although Burbridge's resume dominates any story about the Peacemakers, each

member of the group brings important elements to the band. Paul Henson is

known as the lead singer of the Aquarium Rescue Unit, after Col. Bruce

Hampton's departure in 1993. Drummer Chris Fryar has done session/side work

with acts as diverse as Robert Moore, Charles Neville, and Victor Wooten.

Keyboardist Matt Slocum was classically trained and attended the New England

Conservatory of Music, and guitarist Mark Kimbrell is also a veteran of the

    session scene.

    Instrumentation -

    Oteil Burbridge: Bass

    Mark Kimball: Guitars

    Matt Slocum: keyboards, violin

    Chris Fryer: drums

    Paul Henson: vocals

  5. yeah I know it's just I thought him being an 80%+ shooter from the line would maybe have accounted for something in such an important game. I love the guy as well and don't get me wrong I'm not disappointed in him.

    Cheers

  6. Decent game. I really didn’t want the season to end but if it was going to happen I think that’s the way to do it. It was very exciting.

Two things really stand out for me though – Parker missing two of three free throws after being fowled at the three point line, and the last play Calderon ran for Bosh. If I’m not mistaken that play for Bosh at the end was previously called twice and each of those times the Nets read it perfectly, stopped the pass, and forced a turnover. I was a bit surprised they tried it again but not surprised it was stopped again.

Either way I’m proud of them, and very proud of my man Mo Pete. I have a feeling I won’t see him in a Raps uniform next year so I’m glad he had some game going out.

They’re going to be so hungry for it next year and I absolutely can’t wait for it to begin. Still lots of playoff action left though and I'm pretty excited about the next round of games.

  7. Well, think I am getting close here. I have been trying out alot of gear, and found some used gear at Songbird that I really like.

Its an old Traynor tube head, combined with a David Eden 4x10 700w cabinet. The sound and tone is beautiful. I have it on hold right now, but I think that this is what I may be going with. Just checking out a few others in the mean time.

That sounds like it sounds excellent.

  8. however' date=' Tommy Gardner made it across into the US in the Further Bus, on the way to NYE Big Cypress, without being allowed to go into the states....

all of the time with some 'stuff' in his crotch....

if he made it, anyone can. [/quote']

TUUUUUUUUUUUUUNER!!!! hahaha... that was hilarious. That was the time I told the border guard that I'm retired!

Fuck I love you guys .... you make me laugh sooooo much.

    "retired"

    that's classic dude

  9. I knew a guy who actually had a similar experience as the last one you posted.

It's a long chain of events, but in a nutshell he was on his way back to Canada driving a car. The car belonged to someone else, and the guy I know was carrying someone else's ID (because he is not allowed into the States). The guy was also not licensed to drive, and funnily enough that was also the case for the person who loaned him the ID under which he was travelling, so the guy I know was only carrying that other guy's birth certificate.

So.... if you're following, this guy pulls up to the border in someone else's car, with a further person's birth certificate, and neither the guy driving nor the guy who actually owns the birth certificate are allowed to drive.

Border Patrol looks into the car, and sees only a guitar. That is all he had with him; no luggage, nothing.

    "Citizenship?"

    "Canadian"

"Do you have anything to declare?"

"I have nothing at all with me, other than my guitar."

"Do you know any Neil Young?"

(This guy was in a Neil Young cover band, coincidentally enough.)

    "Yes, I do."

"Play me a Neil Young song."

    (he does)

"You're free to go. Welcome home."

    That rules!

One time on the way to see the Grateful Dead at Pine Knob MI, again on a party bus, me and another person used the exact same id, right after one another. We were young, stupid, and full of confidence, and it worked. The funniest thing was he was black and I’m white. He obviously didn’t use my photo ID but it added to the hilarity of it. Good times..

  10. I’ve got a few good ones. I might be a bit off on the dialogue but this is pretty much it.

McCartney and I pull up to the border at Lewiston.

    Guard: citizenship?

    Shane: canadian

    Brian: canadian

    Guard: where you going?

Brian: buffalo to drop off some posters and tickets for a concert in Hamilton

Guard: have anything else with you?

    Shane: some CD’s

    Guard: you have seeds?

Shane and Brian: No, no, no, not seeds - CD’s

Guard: please pull ahead and park your car

    Different time coming back.

Guard: your last name is McCartney, any relation to Paul? (with a snicker)

    Shane: yes actually

Bus load of hippies coming back from the Grateful Dead in Cleveland. Bus pulls up and the guard comes on.

Guard: (long stare) - everyone canadian?

    Passengers: yes

Guard: (long stare) - you’re all coming back from the Grateful Dead concert?

    Passengers: yes

Guard: (even longer stare) – okay, sing me a verse of St. Stephen and you can all go

I have some other good ones and I’ll try and write more.

  11. I agree with everything you just said and I have to admit I also find it hard at times to think positive. Lets hope the whole team has a breakout game. Lol

I've been meaning to comment on a reply you made to one of my previous posts where I indicated the Raps had it worse this season because of injuries. You said NJ was worse off and I have to disagree.

If a very good team (such as NJ) looses players to injury, because of their experience it’s much easier for them to rebound and make adjustments, especially when they still have two amazing all stars in the line-up. When a team with around 9 new players is trying to find a place in the league and consistently suffers from injuries it’s much more difficult for them to adjust, with or without great depth. I definitely don't consider myself an authority on the subject but doesn't that seem obvious?

At any rate, we don’t agree on many fronts and I’m okay with that. But one thing I know for sure is we both want to see them do well. Lets go Raps!!!!

Latest report suggests Ford is looking positive and Calderon is in rough shape. Fingers crossed.

    Cheers

    BC

  12. Dude, underdogs is nothing new. Lets think positive here.

Neck brace … another precaution. Of course he looked kinda down since he wasn’t able continue playing ... I didn’t say he was happy about it. He didn’t even leave the floor after the injury and made 1 of 2 free throws and remained in the game for the next 30 seconds. I’ve worn a neck brace before and it didn’t stop me from playing the next game. As of today he’s still feeling the stinger a bit in his arm and all accounts sound positive in my opinion. Neck brace aside, he was moving his neck and upper body with ease. I saw it myself and I’m not lying.

  13. I also think pulling Ford to take him to the hospital was a major precaution because of his previous neck injury. He was back on the bench before the end of the game looking loose and comfortably moving his neck and upper body so I think he will play.

  14. I had a clear view of the ankle roll and it looked minor. Obviously the way it looked and what actually happened could be drastically different but I suspect he will play on Friday. I’m definitely not counting on D-Mart. And stingers can last a few minutes to a few days so it’s quite possible Ford will also be ready to play. Don’t count them out yet.

    Happy Birthday Basher!

  15. Hey thanks for the offer Brodie.

For the record, after being asked several times to use his drums NRPS drummer gave in and said okay. You could tell he was still bothered about it and not too happy so Doug and I made the decision and said no. It was for the best and sorry if we disappointed anyone.

Fat Cats still rocked, as expected, and I wasn’t worried.
