Thanks for the kind words, especially NewRider x 10, and Alabama Man, faoy, Cully, MoMack, RayRay, and of course paisley. I don’t take compliments well …… you guys make me blush. Seriously though, I can’t wait to get down with everyone.
$25 ADV $30 DOS' date=' available at Shady Grove, Spiritual Smoke, & PJCTickets on sale Friday March 2nd at 12:00PM[/quote']
I'm guessing they'll only be available through these outlets and over the phone through the venue. Hey briguy, where are you? Can you confirm this?
Well pais is right, pjc sells tickets through tixit.ca, but faoy is also right because I don’t plan on it for this show. There will be a few other outlets announced but if you’re not in Hamilton over the phone is your best bet.
I hope that helps. I love you all … especially MarcO

Thanks RayRay. It’s been awhile ... hope to see you soon.

NRPS began as a part-time spin-off from the Grateful Dead when Jerry Garcia
(pedal steel guitar), Phil Lesh (bass) and Mickey Hart (drums) teamed up with
John Dawson (guitar, vocals) and David Nelson (guitar). By 1971 Dave Torbert
had replaced Lesh, and Spencer Dryden, formerly of Jefferson Airplane, had
joined as the group's permanent drummer. One of the many gigs with the Dead
included the Trans-Canadian Festival Express with Janis Joplin, The Band, and
other American and Canadian artists like Ian and Sylvia, who had with them a
brilliant, innovative pedal steel player named Buddy Cage. When Garcia's busy
schedule made it increasingly difficult for him to play with the New Riders, the
talented Cage was the perfect choice to fill the pedal steel spot. He moved from
Toronto where he had been working in Anne Murray's band, to California in the
fall of 1971 to join the New Riders.
The New Riders, signed to Columbia Records by Clive Davis, released its
eponymous first album in September 1971 to widespread acclaim. In the next 11
years the band toured and released over 12 albums, selling over 4 million
records
David Nelson was an important figure in the musical vanguard of the influential
Haight-Ashbury music scene that spawned the Grateful Dead. He played guitar
on three of their pivotal albums, Aoxomoxoa, Workingman's Dead and
American Beauty. Both Nelson and Garcia are credited with being the
forefathers of the San Francisco scene. Nelson, who sang one of New Riders'
biggest hits, a cover of bluegrass great Peter Rowan's "Panama Red," went on to
write songs with longtime pal Robert Hunter after the band's demise.
Not only has Buddy Cage sold over four million records in his ten years with the
NRPS, but he has also performed on many gold and platinum albums during his
distinguished career including Blood On The Tracks (Dylan), Biograph (Dylan),
The Official Bootleg Tapes (Dylan) and various releases with Ann Murray.
Cage has also recorded with John Cipollina (Quick Silver Messenger Service);
Mario Cipollina (Huey Lewis and The News); Rick James; Rick Danko and
Garth Hudson (The Band); David Rea (Fairport Convention and Mountain); Ian
and Sylvia (Great Speckled Bird); The Shondells; David Bromberg (with Bonnie
Raitt)' Pappa John Creach (Hot Tuna); Sly Stone; and Vassar Clements, to name
a few.
Rounding out the band in 2007 is guitarist/singer/songwriter Michael Falzarano
(Hot Tuna - famed offspring of The Jefferson Airplane), Ronnie Penque on bass
and vocals (Stir Fried), and Johnny Markowski on drums (Melvin Seals and
JGB). Together their accomplishments include touring and recording with the
likes of Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, John Lee Hooker, Johnny
Copeland, Hubert Sumlin, Vassar Clements, Paul Simon, Dr. John, Peter
Rowan, Robert Hunter, John Popper, Pete Sears, and Barry Sless.
Hope to see you there!

Check out the banner link that was running at the top of this thread/page while I was reading this.

Not really a question but I wonder if they remember stopping in at La Luna Hamilton between gigs in Michigan and upstate NY, 1999.
I had just heard of them a year or so earlier and was back from Banff when I was talking to Rusty at the door and he’s like hey meet so and so from Umphreys. Turns out they decided to cut some time off their trip and check out Canada at the same time. They stopped in Hamilton, and of all places at Fat Cats show, at the old La Luna. They gave me a live tape that I still listen to … they’ve come a long way. We exchanged emails for awhile after that and I tried to get them back to Hamilton to no avail. Glad they finally made it back this way.

My experience with cogeco phone lately is it sounds like a cell phone all the time. Actually even worse at times. Not impressed with the voice over internet protocol.

Of course ... I forgot about that.

Yes from Scofield. He likes to drink.

Actually, after thinking about it, no I'm not. Just about any song I hear too much of gets tiring after awhile. Plus it's a stupid fucking commercial so that doesn't help.
-
If you don't want to read the whole article scroll down to the pic of Paul and start reading just above there.

Love the band but wish I didn’t have to hear their Lazy Lover tune on the AXE Body Wash commercial every time a show goes to break. I’m probably being silly but the commercial kind of ruined it for me.
-
I still can't get the sour taste out of my mouth from the Jambase article that details how Paul Simon apparently ripped them off.
-
I don't doubt it. Have been hearing that for a long time.

Happy Birthday!
Wow...a lot of cool birthdays this month.
-
I've been disappointed the last two times I've seen them. I think I'll pass this time around.
-
Happy belated birthday. Hope you had a great day. When are you coming home for a visit?
