  1. I imagine that it will be an early start. Any one know for sure?

9pm sharp I believe, or am pushing for. With 4 bands, it's gotta be quick rotations, or the last band, which may be us, will be going on too late. And who wants to get on stage past midnight on a Thursday in Ottawa, no one is up past that hour let alone listening to music.

  2. Hey folks, just wanted to inform everyone that there will be a Comfort Station/Dr. Huxtable show going down this Thursday, July 22/04 at Ottawa's Cafe Dekcuf (221 Rideau Street). We had a stellar time playing there in June, pulled off a great show and sweet recording of the night, so we are real happy to be coming back again. If you were at Canada Day Oh Four at 40 Main Street, then you've probably heard both of these bands play before, whether you remember that day or not. Joining us this time around will be two possibly out of town bands, The Hope Fiends and Pavlov's Dogs. 4 bands for $5??? how can you go wrong, so c'mon out and support the local independent music scene.

Hope to see you all there!!

  3. Well gang, alls I can really say is....AWESOME!!!!

What a party we threw down at the house yesterday, really, really unbelieveable, we went from a beautiful start with the first few kegs flowing, the Grant Buffett Experience kicking things off. Then came all of God's wrath, a giant storm of wind, torrential rain, hail, roof shingles, tents capsizing, and everything he could throw at us to test our physical and mental endurances, we all held through it, still drinking, getting wet, even singing a big O Canada. All our energy blasted away the hell above within an hour of the hurricane starting, and opened up good ol' Ottawa to blues skies and sweet sweet sunshine. Small incedent involving a person having a mild seisure, ambulances came, she was well taken care of, police dropped by with the ambulance, told us thngs were cool and to keep it going, and then we started tearing up a storm in the courtyard of 40 Main. Music up the ying yang sounding out all day, Kev Carey Band, KidYouRun, The Station, Huxtables, 18 keggers of sweet sweet beer, 300+ freindly people drinking, dancing, laughing, falling, getting up or being helped up, all around a spectacular time had. I can't thank everyone enough for getting together like we did to bring Canada Day to 40 Main is style again for another year!! Everything imaginable went down yesterday, and we took it all in and made one big circus of fun with it all. You could not ask for anything to go smoother really with that many people. Big thanks to those people who helped us keep everything together (you know who you are), keep the stage together, the music flowing, the beer flowing and people given'er

Defenitely a million pictures taken, audio of all the shows, and hopefully in the next week we can get em up on a site to show everyone who wasn't there, and who was there (whether you remember it or not) what a time we all had.

I hope everyone survived the day on top, for those who stumbled into work on time like I somehow did, congrads, were real troopers, god bless the NERO boys for once again throwing down a fantastic late party, and everyone else hopefully we'll be doing this together again come August!

    peace n love

  4. Hey everyone, it's official.... every ticket I had is now sold out, that means there are 200 lucky people in on this kick ass Canada Day kegger so far. So what about the people that still wanna go but didn't get off their ass to hit up Freekers Place or 40 Main for a ticket, well too bad...see you next year!!

Kiddin, but seriously, heres the deal...anyone else who tells me by 4pm today that they are interested in coming to the Canada Day party, I will put on a list at the house and have a bracelet there for you at the low cost again of $15 for a full day of drinking. People who don't tell me ahead of time and just walk in the day of the party will have to pay $20 for the day. Hopefully there aren't many of these, cause if we hit 300 people that's it baby, were full. There'll only be enough beer and booze for 300 at the house, so don't be the last to get in.

Also, I want to mention one more thing that's been driving me crazy the last few days, and I've already touched on it before, that's people asking me if they don't drink much or don't drink do they have to pay or do they get a discount at the party. The simple answer is No. Last year I let a bunch of people in for free for the same reasons, and in many cases I found the people who said they weren't drinking loaded by the time the evening came around, also and even worse I didn't get enough money from people coming last year to break even on all the beer and party supplies I bought, and I lost a bunch of cash I put into it myself. So this time around (another reason I collected most of the money for beer ahead of time) I'm not taking any chances to making exceptions, I'm not trying to be a prick and anyone who knows me knows that, but the fact is simple, it's me that'll get burned at the end and loose a lot of money from this. So everyone pays, if you come you pay, if you drink you pay, etc etc. For people who don't drink beer there'll be a shitload of wine and booze on hand as well to accomidate this, that's the best I can do to accomidate 300 raging maniacs.

Thanks for understanding folks and let the countdown begin, 24 hours till the big day. Yeehaaaa

  5. OK Folks, today is the last day to purchase your rights to drink your face off at 40 Main for Canada Day. The Great Beer Run of 2004 takes place at 3pm tomorrow and I have to lay down a whole lotta love (i.e. cash) to pick up the beer we need to take us through the day. We've sold close to 200 tickets which is pretty much where I wanted to be. I'm still waiting on some other people to send some cash my way but looking good overall. If you haven't purchased yours yet, I'd still prefer to collect today rather than tomorrow, so get your lazy asses out to my place or Freekers for your ticket to drink. As it stands right now we're lining up 15 kegs.. another 15 people pre-pay, another keg, simple math. If we have 100 people trying to pay at the door, we stand to run out of beer by 5pm.. its a chance. So be a dear and pre-pay, asshole.

My biggest fear is that a crap load of people show up at the door and completely throw off my numbers. We have enough people coming to this party, if you've already told friends to show up its an open house, recall the email - cause it ain't true. If we go over 300 people, it will throw off the delicate balance of beer to people... which no one wants. So in short, I'll be turning people away at the door if we go over 300.. plain and simple.

Second lastly, the wedder. Seems to have taken a small turn for the worse overnight... so we need some serious positive energy to get it turned back to the positive. Tomorrow at noon is the 'Lets get good weather 60 second meditation', if you're coming to the party this is a required activity. At high noon, stop what you're doing and concentrate on blue skies, sunshine and kegs of beer. With 300 thinking about the same thing its gotta help. Your country needs, and I need you... so stop the giggling you conservative bastard and start meditating.

Weather protectors... Since there is the possibility of rain, we're going to be setting up some tarps and stuff in the backyard. If you've got one that you could loan us, it would be appreciated for sure. We'll be setting up tomorrow evening so if you have something that could help here, drop it over to my place anytime after 4pm... don't worry, you'll get it back.

Pottie (if someone needs a ticket, cell me at 240-7152)

  6. Haha, that's funny. Damn lawnchair people always killing it for us who wanna get into the music, it was like that at Scofield last year as well, how the hell can people sit down for music like that, jebus, so reserved these ol' jazz folks.

Yeah our Dekcuf show was great as well, really good turnout despite the Hancock and Rain Storms, good night, good sounds and energy. We did an hour set, the crowd seemed to really get into it, then this next band gets on and starts laying down some heavy sh!t like Korn or something and really freaked out our nice crowd, then the place began to clear. Note to self, play with bands that have some common musical grounds, better for the bands and better for the preople there who pay to enjoy it. None the less, a fun evening.

  7. hmmmmm...reflexology eh? It's tempting; however I may be too intoxicated to apply the best pressure. Could be tempted though!

Guaranteed there'd be people in for a few sessions, 200 + people :) You can always try it earlier in the day, if it's not working, throw your gear in the house and get on with the partying! Your call sunshine, the offer stands.

  8. Folks, I'll be leaving an undisclosed amounts of tickets for Canada Day at Freekers as of sometime today, if you need em go get em soon. Were really trying to get rid of all tickets I have before Tuesday at the very latest of next week. Why you may ask? Because the amount of tickets sold correlates with the amount of beer I can purchase, this way the more people that pay the more beer I get for July 1.

I also didn't get and e-mails from folks interested in vending, no one out there? sunshine...reflexology, no one sells hemp? glasswork?? even other food?? Lemmie Know!!

  9. I am sure anyone else who was there would agree. The encore this time at SPAC was outstanding. Nice placement again, and well played. A great way to end a monster set.

Agreed totally, that was a great way to end the spectacular evening, i've defenitely grown to love and apprecviate that song.
