  1. I vote Jerry off, no question. Jimi could kick your ass if he had three fingers missing! Jimi is it, the be-all and end-all of guitar heroes, and boy could he write a song! And lyrics! And without the help of a writer either. Not to mention that he made his mark and passed on at the age of 27! Jerry had twice that long, give Jimi his due!!!!

Spoken perfectly, Hendrix revolutionized music of that area, took it some place no one thought possible, the guitar n music was an extension of his being. Not only a revolutionary guitarist, a poet and great songwriter to boot. Any musician from that era has said the same thing, Hendrix brought music to a new level no one thought possible, he invented something new, not reinvented something that was already there. Anyway enough babbling, god love Garcia, and he is amazing and also has made an impact that'll be felt forever, but it took Garcia and the Dead a lifetime, Jimi did it in a little over 3 years, wow. Band of Gypsies?? come on people. Don't vote against this guy till you've heard the real shit, and i'm not talking radio friendly Watchtower, Purple Haze, Vodoo Chile, etc. They're great but did deeper for the real shit and listen before you act. It'll be tough with all the GD Heady pressure on this board.

    My Vote: Garcia off.

  2. Yeah, I heard the show was sweet, even though the usual Ottawa attendance blew (what gives with this town?), I only got back from Hockey at midnight so I couldn't make it out, but twas funny to see the guys crashed at my place this morning. Really nice dudes, and they are heading out to Guelph tonight for a show ,and then on and on..check the show listings and go see this guys, support the good live music for christ sakes!

space jam vol 1 to vol 40

Folks, all in all a great gathering, no trouble besides the inevitable sound bi-law shoudown (and a little old rasberry jam spillage!!, which needed to go anyway!).

If anyone forgot some bbq dogs, and 2 tubs of tasty ziggies potato salad, well...I ate it sunday morning, I'll replace it for the next get together! and mark my word, there'll be more parties in the works!

  5. Hey everyone, thanks a million for coming out and sharing in the music and festivities here at 40 main, great time had by all, even most of the neighbours. It was fun meeting, dancin, and jammin with all of you, and lets try and keep these gatherings going through out the summer. Anyone manage to take any pics of the party?? [big Grin]

  6. Hey gang, Dr. Hux has it exactly right, it was a most ingenious plan thought up last night as a way to still have some sort of music gathering in prep for the next few weeks of festivals. So here are some of the details:

Anyone who likes to listen, play, or just hang out is welcome. We live in large house on 40 Main St. with a real big outdoor padio, enough room for any number of people to jam. There is also a big yard off the padio, for dancin, frisbee, ball, etc. whatever you want really.

What we have: Drums, Bass, Bass amp's, a few guitar amps, congas, djembes, an older keyboard but it's fine. Anyone who wants to play can bring what they want and can set up on the patio. Dr. Hux will be bringing his PA, we've got 3 mics and stands as well.

We also have a bbq, so we'll be firing that up as well, I'll pick up some dogs and condements, anyone who wants to throw something on can bring it over. Also bring some drinks, we got a cooler and fridge we can clear up for beverages.

Directions: basically go down to the end of elgin to hawthorne, go left over the bridge till you hit main street, take a left and look or listen for us, house 40.

Thats it in a nutshell, although it looks like sunny/cloudy tommorow, in case of any bad weather (<<>>), or in case of any noise complaints, which I don't think we'll get, we can move indoors, although it's a lot smaller in size, but we'll figure something out. I think everyone will be enjoying the good music rather than complaining about it.

So thats the start of it...
