  1. oh yeah, forgot to mention....thanks for reminding me Bouche. With Virgin you do have to buy the phone up front. I think the one I have cost 60 or 70 bucks.

DON"T GET SUCKED INTO THE FREE PHONE FOR A CONTRACT SCAM

    ***Disclaimer***

I don't work for Virgin wireless, but get a warm, tingly feeling every time I type the name.

  2. Go with a no contract pay-as-you-go type thing. We have plans with Virgin, one is a pay-as-you-go, the other is a plan.

I think it depends how much you think you NEED vs just having a safety line or something like that. If you're just having it because you travel and need something to keep contact with "in case", go with the $10 a month plan that you top up with a few minutes. I think the minutes are good for a few months. So, you might pay 10 bucks to add some minute, plus 10 bucks a month. If it takes you 3 months to use those minutes (as an infrequent user) it is TOTALLY worth it.

With Virgin, you also get call display, voice mail, call waiting and all the other shit the "other" companies make you pay for (4-8 dollars for EACH service), especially if you aren't getting a big bundle because they have to nickel and dime you to make money off of you. Also, watch for "system access" fees and emergency connection fees and stuff like that. Virgin doesn't charge any of that either. Also look to see how much it costs to CANCEL you contract with a company if you decide to go that route. It might be more now but with Bell, you used to have to pay 20 bucks per month for the remainder of your contract, or 120 bucks, whichever is GREATER.

Do it if you have to....good luck!

Oh, and as for models, the Korean brands Samsung and LG have always been good for me...

  3. On a serious note, you really should check out wreck beach since you're so close....many people say it's the most beautiful beach around. You may also dig the vibe....

There are also plenty of places to rent kayaks and would recommend a day on the water if you have the time.

There is a shit load of food options down 4th. The Naam is open 24 hours a day, has a cool vibe, decent food, and some good beers on tap. If you haven't been or heard of it, it is sort of a local hot spot.

If you're looking for a REALLY good meal and want to spend a little check out Vij's. It isn't too far from UBC by bus or car or bike. Just get there by about 4:45 and line up at the door. FABULOUS meal guaranteed.

  5. "Control for smilers can't be bought

The solar garlic starts to rot

Was it for this my life I sought?"

When I joined "Phishsanctuary.com" I figured a phishy name would be most suitable. The lyric itself holds absolutely no meaning to me whatsoever. I have, however, enjoyed the cosmic nature of life and surely embrace the full love and power of the almighty garlic. It is very strange to be greeted/introduced as such but the nerdy flavour of phish needs to live on somehow I suppose....

  6. As an extension to my "Any good Books?" thread.... recommendations for great urban gardening books please! Organic, space maximization, companion planting, soil development, whatever!

I sort of laughed after looking at the Square Foot Gardening books as this is very similar to an idea I have been cultivating in my brain....

    End Credits

The end credits with Fury mean SHIELD is more involved. More likely that part is leading to an Avengers movie.

    Head of Shield

at the end of credit roll' date=' Tony Stark is visited by the Head of SHIELD. This eye-patched character is played by none other than Samuel L. Jackson.

See it here if you must. It definitely sets up some really exciting new possibilities if other movies are to be made this way.

Too funny, the nerds in the room are really stoked by the scene ;)

To add, I thought the movie was kinda neat. Never been a comic book guy though and have no point of reference for this movie...

  8. Nothing like a nice cold Natty Ice on the beach somewheres in maine!

or also a Nice cold Rollin Rock I had a bunch of these ultra smooth beers last summer when I was down in Maine

While going to university in Michigan we drank plenty of both....needless to say the smell of either are enough to bring on the gag reflex. Natty Ice has to be one of the singe most disgusting things known to man. It does stoke a great party though!!!

  9. Heading into overtime frame number 3. This game has been pretty damn exciting! I'm gonna go for Richards winning it for Dallas...though looking at time zones I'm probably one of the only ones still up watchin.
