  1. a little exerp to sweaten the pot:

The crowd is principally stockbrockers and bankers and wealthy heads come to see and hear the Dead. All these dressed-up society folds, and here we are literally at the end of our rope, having come from the wilds of Millbrook half drunk and totally stoned on STP. And we're trying to make small talk with these people.

"Is it true, Mr. Garcia, that people stoned on acid are immune to radiation?"

    "Oh, definitely. Want some?"

"Is it true, Mr Garcia, that Grace Slick put LSD in the punchbowl at Tricia Nixon's wedding?"

"Thats a damn lie! I put it in...."

  2. there are many parts in the book that made me HOWL to death. there is something about how it is written that just draws the reader in. Not everyone would "understand" but I think most sanctuarians would LOVE it to death!

Very funny, insightful and sobering at the same time. Enjoy PEI punk

  3. OK, I know most of you Dead fans have most likely read this but here goes:

I just recently finished "Living With the Dead" by Rock Scully. For those of you who don't know, Rock was the bands manager from the 60's up into the 80's.

Basically, the perspective is from the inside and takes the reader through the madness we all know, the Grateful Dead. It is TRULY madness, and I can't stress this enough! Very insightful read and I would really recomend it to anyone, Dead fan or not. I promise you will not be able to put the thing down....

  4. a) Raisin Bran

    B) Loved (still do) those wheat pucks, with sugar, hot smile.gif" border="0

    c) Nothing like a couple of eggs (anyway), sausage, bacon, toast and spuds of some kind. Gotta have a side of ketchup too!

    d) sittin' on buddies porch as the sun comes up after a looong nite of PAR-T. eatin frosted mini wheats and cheese while smokin' butts out of the ash tray. seemed like the right thing to be doing.

  5. Here is a solution to everybody's problem. Don't use hotmail smile.gif" border="0 I have had an account there for many many years but I only use it to post on internet forms and stuff now. Basically, hotmail blows. I would recomend gmx as Ive yet to recieve a SINGLE spam email. Problem with gmx is that I think they have given up on multilingual interface. The website may be all in German now smile.gif" border="0 They rule though!! I know its a pain in the ass to change your email, BUT, after a little messing around its well worth it. Good luck!

  6. Hey all, I do the BNB setlist archive and I need a couple setlists: 12/20/01, and the NYE setlist. Ive been getting mail from folks wondering where they are....Since I live in Alberta I rely on you folks out east to keep things up-to-date. Thanks in advance for help. You can either post to this thread or send an email to this address: forbin40@hotmail.com

  7. Well, I don't know what they have in Ontario but I saw a live performance of A Charlie Brown Christmas at an improve theartre in Chicago. They had a band playing the tunes and the actors actually acted like the cartoons, moved like em and everything...plus, it was a bring your own booze place and they had a keg after the performance. Pretty Sweet!! Could be as mind expanding as you wanted it to be I guess.....

  8. Well, funny topic. I once went to this show in Chicago called "Triple X-mas". Performers included Pantera and Jackle, as well as strippers bathing in eggnog, and a sideshow. I don't know how it happened but our tickets were situated in the same section as all the performers. So it was me, the buddies, strippers (and spouses of strippers), managers, sideshow folk, etc....The guy from Jackle broke out the chainsaw on stage and cut shit up too

was a total riot (literally at some points). I was pretty scared of the Pantera folks but had a great time. we were a bunch of minors getting totally pissed and getty roudy. fun times!!

PS: don't see Jackle wink.gif" border="0 ....do they exist anymore??

  9. Giggles, those are the albums....im gonna go buy their live album for sure!!

p.p: We saw them at Quincy's on 7th here in Calgary. Great room! there were a 100-200 people in there (i can't tell)...3 levels of tables, bar, and a large dance floor. The sound in the room was GREAT!

Metalwood/Nero eh?? sounds like a show not to be missed for sure...

  10. ANIMAL!

Went to see Metalwood last night and was VERY pleased with what I heard!!

I have one of their albums but wasn't really sure what to expect from the live act. Well, all I can say is go see these guys if they make it to your area. The drummer is a total animal. He's a monster. All four of the guys are GREAT players and their songs are intense. I think they're back east at the end of November.

If by chance anyone on this board has ever taped these guys, Id love to get my grubby hands on some!!

  11. Alright!! Ive been missing these TOP 5 lists!! Here is my current rotation, no order:

    1) Bruce Cockburn - 9/28/99, Chicago

    2) Aquarium Rescue Unit - 3/17/93, Fox Theatre

    3) Justice League of America - 1/22/00

    4) Disco Biscuits - Uncivilized Area

    5) Phil + Friends - 7/27/01

    Some notes:

First off, I have to say the Phil shows from this year are just totally stupid. Has to be the HOTTEST act going in my opinion. How 'bout that Warren eh??

Normally im not much of a Disco Biscuits fan, however, Ive had this CD for a couple of years and its still one of my favorites. When I first heard the live stuff I surprised at how different it was from this album.

If anyone is interested in any of the live stuff from my top 5 drop me a line and Ill B+P ya!!

Checking out some Metalwood action here in Cowtown tonight!!

  12. Personally, what I think separates BNB from MOST of the "touring" Canadian bands is that they come to Western Canada rather than just stopping in Western Ontario. Of course BNB has been touring for a lot longer than these other bands, but hey, gotta start some where wink.gif" border="0

Im not taking a shot at any of you other bands either cuz I do realize money and time are an issue. Introducing yourselves to new audiences is probably tough too.

Anyhow, don't feel shy about coming out west!! We would love to see EVERYONE play in Alberta.
