  1. I've often wondered why BNB did so well. I can't really place it... maybe the fact of us starting up in Thunder Bay and having everyone we knew from that city spread out across the country. I mean, when we did our first western tour in 98... there was at least 5 or ten T Bay kids out at every show with friends they brought along. A mailing list, tapers and back breaking touring also helped.

But it's hard... discouraging especially now. THe jam scene gets NO media support. The media will point out that we have beards and Mike's amp had a flowery covering. The media is NOT the key success. If the media swarmed it.. it'd probably lose it's appeal to lots and get chewed up and spit out within months.

Bah! I'm kind of turned off to the whole thing now. Good luck to the bands out there doin it now. Don't stop. Keep playing NO MATTER WHAT. If something comes up that could stop you - overcome it and you'll be stronger and smarter. Just do it for the music and nothing else.

  2. If yer in Toronto...come down and check out THE PRODUCT every MONDAY in July at Chicago's on Queen Street.

    The band is:

    Jason Hay - saxaphones

    Jeff Heisholt - keyboards

    Erik Allen - drums

    Steve Gotlib - basses

    Mike Bowel - guitar

There's no cover and shows will start around 10:30. The music is basically acid jazz kinda stuff... to give you an idea we play some Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis and Billy Cobham tunes. See you then.

  3. I've got a group together and we'll be opening for METALWOOD June 1st at THE RIVOLI in Toronto. The lineup is:

    Erik Allen - drums

    Steve Gotlib - bass guitars

    Jason Hay - saxaphones

    Jeff Heisholt - keyboards

    Paul MacDougall - guitar

It's a jazz-fusion kind of thing.... we'll be playing some Miles Davis and other great tunes. Jason Hay has sat in with BNB on sax a few times in Toronto.

This is our first show but there'll definately be more to come. See ya then.

  4. Hey all... Jeff Heisholt here.

Well, I'm sad to say that Jeffrey Kornblum is no longer with BNB. As the band's official posting states, it was a very tough decision to make. Jeffrey was and still is like a brother to me. But as time goes on our music evolves and things change. We felt it was time for a change.

It's too bad that it came out from someone else before we had the chance to officially announce Jeffrey's departure. That wasn't the way we wanted it. Reading the posts on this page and our own message board made me pretty upset. This is our own personal business and what we decide to share with you, the fans and friends, should be accepted and respected. We don't question you about the goings on behind the scenes at your jobs, and would never think of it. As much as we love music and the music that we play... this is also our job.

I just wanted to comment on a couple of the remarks seen here.

    - this was not an ego based decision and has not gotten in the way of the music

    - this was also not a decison made or influenced by any single member of the band. We all came to this conclusion togther.

I hope that everyone will give us a chance and continue to come out and give us the support we've come to know over the last 6 years.

Feel free to respond with any questions... I'll answer them id I can.

    Thanks,

    and cheers.

    Jeff Heisholt
