  1. On the other hand, if i start hearing a few songs on the radio, i'll consider the album a success...

I don't know man...I really do not think that is waht they were going for on this one. It's just a different sound. It seems less commercially viable than round room, and round room seemed less commercially viable than Farmhouse. I think they are just getting older, and since we are too, maybe we can try and meet them halfway.

  2. Hey Rob,

You gonna be at the show....It would be awesome to see you and like, steal your hoodie or something.

Find the Jibboo Crew, we'll be not fucking around somewhere on the lot. Are oyu heading from Hali, or TO, need a ride? have a a ride?

  3. I have read all I can find of Vonnegut. My personal favorite is Slapstick. It is the most mature blend of humour and satire he wrote IMO. Slaughter House 5 is a completely different style from everything else, but a must-read. I also love his early works like Player Piano (fear technology people) and Sirens of Titan. Galapagos is another phenom, up there with Cat's Cradle.

Timequake was a very late book, and I do not remember it well, but I do remember loving it.

There is the big cosmic joke book too, with the time-travelling dog...I think it was Sirens of Titan....maybe not, but what a fucking well-crafted stiry. Blew my mind when I read it. Maybe it was the drugs.

  4. I dig it!

It think other than a few weak tracks, the album is very complete and is definately the best-produced album they have put out. Scents and Army of One are wicked tracks. Maybe better for the non-phans with less sense of Phistory (if I can very boldly make up a word) then for the people still stuck in 1998.

    Be open when you listen.

  5. Me and My Little Pony will be leaving for SPAC saturday morning. If anyone wants a ride, let me know by email or phone (416 509 4650). Leaving from Toronto and probably going by ferry or by buffalo depending on things. Early morning, maybe 9 or 10 departure. I am staying at a friends in Albany (no room for more since I think I am in the kitchen already - I am sure hotel dropoffs are possible). Come home Monday morning. Back by 5pm.

My Little Pony rocks - except the back seat is a bit tight.

  6. Following Trey Anastasio's statement on Phish.com that the upcoming

    Coventry

festival would be Phish's last ever shows, there has been a rash of

    follow up

statements from various camps in the jamband world.

Sources at Madison House denied that Michael Kang has left String

    Cheese

Incident to front a new band known as Phosh, consisting of Kang,

    Fishman,

McConnell and Gordon. "That's ridiculous," said a Madison House

    spokesperson.

"Anyone who listens to Kang play knows he's never even heard of these

    other

    people".

Sources at Phish management denied the rumour that McConnell, Gordon

    and Fishman

had asked to audition for the Trey Anastasio Band, rumored to be

    touring

supporting a new album in the fall. "Aren't they already IN that

    band ? Oh, hang

on a sec.." said a confused spokesperson.

In other news, several bands have cancelled dates scheduled for the

    weekend in

August of the Coventry festival . Jimmy D-Dog, lead singer of local

    Wisconsin

jamband "Hot Diggedy" was saddened that they would have to cancel

    their annual

local "420 every hour on the hour" festival. "Everyone who bought

    advanced

tickets has called for a refund", he said glumly. " They're all going

    to Vermont

now. Even Stinky our bass player just bought Coventry tickets".

Rumors of what the other three who aren't Trey are going to do next

    abound. Mike

Gordon is rumored to be joining NE legends Max Creek, prompting

    existing Creek

bass player John Rider to remark "Oh crap, I knew this day would

    come. Its just

a matter of time now." McConnell is rumored to be planning to get

    down on his

knees and beg to be allowed into the Trey Anastasio Band, while

    Fishman

apparently is getting ready to launch a "spiffy new line of man

    dresses that

play my solo stuff when you stand under running water." This has

    apparently

confused many Phish fans, who have been asking what this "running

    water" stuff

    is.

A Phish spokesman said "the other members of Phish will no doubt

    continue to

make very successful music with their own bands," though several

    people could be

    heard giggling in the background.

And of course, the big question is "what's next for Trey?" Varying

    rumors have

Trey joining Dave Matthews full time, Trey replacing Dave Matthews in

    the Dave

Matthews Band (to be renamed the Trey Matthews Band) while Mr.

    Matthews runs off

to Hawaii with Emmylou Harris, and Trey taking 6 months off to smoke

    his money.

The BIG rumor involves Trey joining Warren Haynes in a supergroup

    called "Trey,

Warren and the Other Guys (does it really matter who?)", called "Trey

    and

Warren" for short, who will be introduced at a concert produced by

    Superfly.

Superfly are said to be negotiating to hire Staten Island for a week

    long

festival headlined by the two megasupergiants of the jam. Staten

    Island will be

renamed "Wookie Island" for the festival.

In a related story, Phish have now apparently expanded the site of

    the upcoming

Coventry festival, to accomodate the expected mass influx of Phans

    wanting to

catch a last glimpse of their heroes. the new new site for the

    festival is now

    apparently "the greater Vermont area".

String Cheese Incident have apparently reversed their booking trend

    and are now

once again booking large sheds and ampitheaters for the fall. When

    this reporter

called Madison House for comment, there was apparently a party going

    on in the

offices, and whoever answered the phone was unhappy that I "wasn't the

noisemakers dude." When asked what effect Phish's permanent

    retirement might

have on String Cheese Incident, the answerer just had one

    word : "Yeeeehaw!!!".

More news as we have it...

  7. "Glazed Eyes For The Stoned Guy" - Watch as MarcO and his crew of designer partyboys (Esau, Paisley, Secondtube & Booche) administer life-threatening amounts of booze and recreational drugs to yuppies and wookies alike. Viewer discretion is highly advised.

    The reviews are in!

"It's the worst show we've ever seen!" - The Globe and Mail!

"Absolutely sickening - these horrible men should be sent into eternal space orbit" - TV Guide.

"I would rather stare directly into the sun." - The New York Times

    upcoming episodes:

Saturday May 29, 2004: "A Birthday Party at Hooters!"

Saturday June 5, 2004: "Is that a man or a woman? Who cares?"

Saturday June 12, 2004: "Brian just barfed on the acid! Tim's gonna be pissed!"

Saturday June 19, 2004: "Who's tongue is this?" (live! on location in Saratoga Springs, NY)

    Saturday June 26, 2004: "Jackpot!"

I just pissed my pants. The acid was in them. Tim is gonna be more pissed.

  8. I like sex with a partner you love.

I like sex with a partner you like.

I like sex with a partner about whom afterwards you can say to your buddies, "Whoa, Guess who I scored?"

    I like comedy.

I like Waterloo Dark and Algonquin Honey Brown.

    I like music.

I like all of you that I have met in person and even those who I only know through there words.

    I like this thread.

  9. While Bisco and SCI certainly have the largest followings currently, and once upon a time you may have said, "Well, if Phish were done, the phans would have to go somwehere." But really, these bands have been around long enough and the phishheads who dig em (Bisco and SCI) already go see the shows, so where will the extra support come from. In fact, many of the fans of these bands already have fans who refuse to see phish (or if they do see phish, they just bitch that it's not dancy enough - fricking biscofans - or not bad enough -- stupid SCI fans). I do not see a void to fill since alot of the bands out there do quite well enough. When the Dead folded, there were no half-giants like Bisco and SCI so Phish could sweep up all the leftovers from the Dead (although that can be argued as bulshit too). Now, at the risk of making this point any more convoluted and disastrous, I think it would have to be a less established band to get as big as Phish and develop into a band that can bring out the numbers needed to put on those mega fesivals. Nero is up and coming but I dont know if they have it. They certainly can jam, but maybe they need some better writing (don't quote me on that, ain't seen them in over a year and I did really like them). I do not see any trance-type band getting that big for the simple fact that they also do not write great songs, they just groove real good. Phish had groove, ecleticism, song-writing, mad playing chops, a dorky front guy and a dude with a dress. No one can top that who I know of. Maybe I should start a band again. I only wnat to play if I cna be as big as Phish, and since there is space now.....TonyRage Groove Band is back on.

  10. I was gone for eight months. It was all amazing but if you would lie more specific advie, shoot me a personal message and let me know which countries you are off to. I can give some specific highlights you may dig. If you haven't decided which countries to do, I reccomend Laos for sure. I have also heard good things about Vietnam and the Phillipenes. Vietnam is tough to do well though, helps if you have friends there.

  11. I think the nerdiness was there from the beginning with the band. Trey seems like he must've been a huge geek. And Paige, c'mon. We all know Mike is still a geek and Fishman is the only cool one in the bunch.

The next huge mosnter city-sized festival band is gonna be..........................

    CAVERN -- no wait, no.

    It'll be..........there is no one!

    Good!

  12. dude!

Who is Hansel and that quote ROCKS! I also don't listen to Sting's music. I saw a documentary on him on an airplane and he talked about how he never understood why the Police had such a great sound, but not once did he mention Stewart Copeland or Andy Summers. What a putz!

  13. Ok - So I went again to CTMF and this time I met VVilly. Why did I not meet more of you. Or...maybe I met many of you but do not remember. There is a small hole on Sunday night from Caution Jam till Monday Morning. Apparently I really liked Diesel Dog.

  14. I fully respect the band for this. I felt like I was going to shows now only to try and capture the one special show that I never seemed to get. Not that I did not enjoy every show I saw....it's just that feeling of having to be there weighs me down some time. This'll save me cash and maybe get me out to see younger bands and more festivals.

As to the announcement being from Trey, I think it is fair to say that the rest of the band forced hime to write it cause he most likely was the catalyst for the breakup. I bet he just wants to tour with Dave Matthews now and get on top of that 15-18 yr old scene.

And to top it all off....who cares about Phish when we have Cavern!

  15. Last year I think It went past midnight, but I am not positive. I think if you move yo ass you can make it by 9pm or 9:30 though, which should be around set break. You can hustel to Burlington in 2:30 if you make good time and don't get hassled by the border cops.
