  1. you know I could be crazy, but I could swear I saw Dan Akroyd at that show last night, he was wearing a staff shirt and a baseball cap. him and about 4 other guys wearing the same shirts pushed there way through the crowd out by the west beer stands, it happened pretty fast but I'm pretty sure it was him.

    just thought I'd share that.

but like I said I might be crazy.

  2. Looking for company for the long ride tomorrow, I'll be heading from Simcoe(lake erie), at about 3-4pm and I pass through Brantford, Hamilton, Burlington etc. if anyone is stuck for a ride.

My friend that I'm meeting there is coming from the opposite direction. It can be a pretty boring ride home after a fun night(about 2hrs each way), I would love some company, even if it was only half the ride.

let me know if you interested via this thread or private message.

  3. Bela is definately the man.....I've been listening to his last album with edgar meyer(music for two) alot lately...nah, more like I'm adicted to it......you guys should check it out, it comes with a DVD with clips from the road to.....mostly footage of them working on a tune that is a "Canon" where edgar starts the song, and Bela repeats everything he plays 15 beats later like "row your boat"

I can't get enough of the Classical Double bass it has such an incredible range, the high notes sound like violin or cello and the lowest notes sound like a ship steamwhistle, unbelievable.

  4. I have a Joe Pass and Neils orsted Petterson album called chops that is great..

also the first one i bought was just called best of Joe Pass and it is awesome.

the Virtuoso series is really good to.

  5. Idunno...all the speed metal I listened to had tonnes of guitar solos

    ie.

Testament, Megadeth, Anthrax, Exodus, Death Angel, Annihilator, Pantera, Seputura, Slayer etc.

Is that Speed Metal or Thrash??...I always thought they were the same thing..

I agree about the wah pedal by the way

  6. holy sh!t, I already bought a ticket to go see them at the ACC on Oct.6th, did'nt realize they were coming to Hamilton and London and their both way closer to me, they are also smaller venues, with better sound!! (I hate the ACC).....dagnabbit!!

Oh well, I wasn't even planing on goin in the first place, I've seen Metallica 6 times back in the early 90's("And Justice for all", and "The Black Album") but then i ran into some freinds that i don't get too party with very often anymore and they said they had an extra, if I wanted to go, so as usual I said "A Concert?...sure I'll go!! When is it?"

Oh well....it'll be a good party, I havnt seem them live in about 8 years either....

On a side note, St. Anger is a pretty good album, it's alot better than the last few they've done, but damn there's no guitar solos, c'mon Kirk(Hammett)....WTF?

  7. That was such a great show, although it was pretty much a condensed version of what I seen at the ACC 6 months ago...I enjoyed JLC as a venue so much more...the ACC is way to huge....we got there late, parked right across the street, didn't see a single scalper, so we went to the box office to see what they had left, we ended up with amazing seats, and we only payed $59 there was a higher price tier that was $69.

I've seen Yes about 6 times now, and I think that was in my top two, and both of those were spontaneous, worry about tickets when we get there adventures.

Dream Theater rocked too, I seen them about 5 or 6 years ago at the warehouse, good to watched them again, I've kind of been out of that scene for awhile I guess, I used to listen to them alot in the late nineties......

...I hope to see lots more shows at the John Labbat Centre

    I too took some pics....

  8. That was a wicked show.....they even broke out some old ones I havn't seen them play live before(except on video) like Xanadu and Passage to Bankok....the stageshow was unbelievable too, lasers and fire, and computer animation.

I took some pictures, although we were a ways back and there was a stupid pole in the middle, but here they are anyways.

  9. "My sinful glare at nothing holds thoughts of death behind it

Skeletons in my mind commence tearing at my sanity

Vessels in my brain carry death until my birth

Come and die with me forever

    Share insanity

    Do you want to die!

The waves of blood are rushing near, pounding at the walls of lies

Turning off my sanity, reaching back into my mind

Non-rising body from the grave showing new reality

What I am, what I want, I'm only after death"

you gotta love slayers lyrics, theyre like demonic tongue twisters!

you'll have a blast Willy, I seen Slayer again last year when they played in Mississauga it was amazing....better wear your studded leather wristbands and tight black jeans to this show.
