h
Brazilian agency sues 'The Simpsons' By JAM! TV The Simpsons are in hot water after their recent visit to Brazil. Brazilian officials are criticizing an episode of the long-running animated series that aired on March 31, saying it tarnished Brazil's reputation as an international party destination. As a result, Rio's tourism agency, Riotur, has begun preparations to file a civil lawsuit against 20th Century Fox, in U.S. courts, claiming the "Blame It On Lisa" episode tarnished the $18 million spent last year promoting Rio as a travel destination. In the episode, the Simpson clan was compelled to go to Brazil after Lisa wanted to check up on an orphan she had been sending money to. According to E-Online.com, Riotur was offended by several parts in the episode including: Homer being kidnapped by a taxi driver and held ransom for $50,000; Marge being refused help by the Brazilian police; the family being attacked by mad monkeys; and the end of the episode, when Bart is eaten by an Anaconda. This is not the first time the Simpson clan has mocked other countries. Past episodes have featured the dysfunctional family making fun of Japan, Australia, France, and Canada
