VSO Canada will be sending four youth volunteers through the Canadian International Development Agency's International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) in 2005-06. Placements are part of the Career Focus stream of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy, which aims to help young people make the transition from post-secondary school to work.

VSO's IYIP program matches youth volunteers to placements that support CIDA’s development priorities, in areas such as program development, advocacy work and local and sustainable development at VSO’s partners overseas.

Program staff at VSO Canada are responsible for the recruitment, selection and placement of youth volunteers as well as communication with VSO Program Offices and overseas partners.

Please read through the Program Requirements section for more information about whether IYIP placements are right for you.

yeah, i know there is a ton out there and i've applied to some in the past. i recently tried to get one with the quebec-labrador foundation called the community conservation internship. basically it looked like i would be aboard a boat in st. andrews, nb, called the fundy baykeeper enforcing environmental regulations on the water. that was in conjunction with kennedy's waterkeeper alliance. but alas, i got turned down!

actually i'm holding out on this round of iisd/cida internships this time cuz i'm pretty much set on heading over to korea to teach english for a year beginning this summer.
