My Sunday consisted of:

  • 2:30am: arrive at home
  • 2:35am: finish bottle of water, go to bed
  • 8:00am: arise, eat breakfast
  • 8:10am: go back to bed
  • 10:00am: re-rise
  • 10:05am: plug Nomad into computer, transfer show
  • 10:10am - 11:15am: track show, work out set list (I kept track during the show, and the band filled in the gaps), shorten tracks, queue it all up in SmartFTP
  • 11:20am: lunch
  • 11:45am go back to bed
  • 2:00pm: re-re-rise
  • 2:05pm: log into archive.org, arrange upload
  • 2:15pm: take a shower
  • 2:30pm: coffee & toast
  • 2:45pm: begin Inglewood Jack rehearsal
  • 6:00pm: bid Inglewood Jack members a fond adieu, have dinner

(Note that all times listed above are approximations and/or flat-out guesses.)

In effect, my part of the upload was done by 2:00pm on Sunday; everything after that consisted of waiting for an archive.org curator to approve the recording (which can take a day or three sometimes).

During my first "stretch" of taping (roughly 2002-09 -> 2003-04), I got heavily into the taping, but didn't devote enough time to transferring and uploading. As a result, I developed a big backlog (some of which still needs to be processed). Now, with the Nomad, which allows me to transfer an entire show in minutes, transferrng and tracking is a breeze; and with high-speed internet access, I can upload at will. I'm trying to stay on top of the shows I record, and, having done it all a bunch of times, I can do it even the morning after the show.

Note that this doesn't mean I don't have a USB connection coming out of my arse... ;)

Aloha,

Brad
