shainhouse
I stumbled upon her CD after getting the 'Weeds' Soundtrack and loving her track, "David" off it. This girl is fantastic. Her CD, 'Get Away From Me' drifts from broadway and cabaret to jazz, rock, funk and even hip-hop. It's subtley political and she can play (piano). I swear she pulls of Eminem-style politiczed hip-hop and Broadway-type monologue vocals on the disc, which is a double CD as well.Lyrics include;"My cat died so I quickly poured myself some gin. Did she die of old age or was it for my sins?' - Ding DongA new record comes out in December. I'm in.One good example of the majors actually released a good record and no one paying attention. It goes both ways. www.nelliemckay.com
AD
Saw her at Bonnaroo 2004, she was quite the shy little charmer, good songs and voice though. Haven't heard the CD, maybe I'll 'find it' somewhere.AD
