MATTHIAS HEILBRONN(Wavemusic)

DJ/producer/remixer Matthias "Matty" Heilbronn has established himself as a formidable presence in the international dance / electronic music landscape. Armed with an adventurous musical spirit, an acute musical sensibility, an ambitious vision and a burning desire to contribute something innovative, Matthias has established a unique pedigree that is a culmination of his lifetime love affair with music. His sound embodies his creative spirit while drawing inspiration from his vastly diverse musical heritage which reflects influences from a spectrum of artists and producers including: Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Earth, Wind and Fire, The O'Jays, Trevor Horn, Quincy Jones, Sly and Robbie, The Cure and Kraftwerk. Melding sounds from vintage New York and Chicago house, reggae / dub, classic r&b and soul, funk, experimental electronic and mid-late 80's alternative, the multi-talented artist has crafted an inventive and soulful kaleidoscope of sound that has garnered mass critical and commercial success.

Throughout his illustrious career, Matthias has steadily achieved international acclaim for his trademark sophisticated soulful sound: a glorious blend of soulful, jazz-inflected deep house, percussive Afro-Latin rhythms and infectious progressive tribal beats. This distinctive style earned him a spot on DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJs In The World where they described him as "one of the true unsung heroes of house music", and in DJ Magazine's Top 10 Covermount CDs of the Decade, Matthias earned the #1 position of the decade for compiling and mixing his seminal Wave/Chez/Naked compilation.

As a DJ, Matthias has graced the decks at some of world's most premiere venues amassing a legion of ardent devotees from around the globe including: London's Cargo, The End, Ministry of Sound and Fabric; New York's Cielo, Arc and the legendary Palladium, Twilo, Sound Factory Bar and Body & Soul; Paris' Respect Is Burning; Ibiza's Pacha and Space; Miami's Crobar and Rain; and Tokyo's Yellow. Although renowned amongst "heads" for his soulful garage house sound, his DJ sets reveal a much broader cross-section of influences. In November 2001, Britain's 7 Magazine described Heilbronn's set at Turnmills (11/01 as a "spellbindingly eclectic set" where his "panoramic journey across often arbitrary musical genres, created a sense of New York, both past and present."

From Portugal, England, Scotland, France, Italy, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Ibiza, Japan, Singapore, Puerto Rico, Tahiti, Copenhagen, across the US, and back to the city that has been his home since 1989, New York, Matthias continues to delight and inspire club-goers with his rapturous and seductive musical brew.

Although renowned amongst the "heads" for his soulful garage house sound, his DJ sets and productions reveal a much broader cross section of influences, melding sounds from current and vintage New York and Chicago House, techno, reggae/dub, classic r&b and soul, funk, electro, acid and tribal beats.
