whiteymuseum
@ The Underground (downtown Hamilton) http://www.undergroundrocks.ca Cincinnati Records & Promotions Proudly Presents Sunday November 26 2006 Labwork Recording Artists, WINTERSLEEP with guests BRY WEBB (The Constantines) WOOLLY LEAVES (The Constantines) BRIAN BORCHERDT (Holy Fuck) 9PM Doors, 9:30PM Start Labwork Music is proud to announce the re-release of Wintersleep's two albums, Self-Titled & Untitled. Both hit Canadian stores on October 31 and come with new special features for 2006. Pop in Wintersleep's sophomore CD Untitled and you'll notice a new enhanced section with 2 extra bonus tracks & 4 Wintersleep videos. Untitled was originally recorded in Halifax by Laurence Currie (Sloan, One Chord to Another) and has since received such glowing praise as "Wintersleep could be the album to convert the whole country" -Exclaim Magazine & "Ambitious and remarkably accessible. Not since Eric's Trip has a Canadian band managed to so successfully combine music that's both head-smashingly heavy and heart-achingly delicate." -FFWD, Calgary Wintersleep started as recording project in Loel Campbell's 15th floor apartment, to try and produce some of Paul Murphy's quieter material. At that time, Paul had been fronting the rock group Kary, whose aggressive sound left little room for this quieter side. Loel & Paul rapidly developed a musical catalogue and interest. Soon after Tim D'eon started contributing and when the oppurtunity arrived to play live, Jud Haynes was added to fill out the live band. Voted "best band in Halifax" by The Coast readers three years running, selling out clubs throughout Canada & touring with the likes of Broken Social Scene, K-os, Pearl Jam, Stars... Wintersleep have proven themselves to be one of the country's most exciting bands! afro poppa
I dont get Wintersleep...is there something wrong with me?
zero
No, I don't really dig them much either. My ex is into them and Loel's sister is her best friend and she lives in town, plus the Halifax connection for us. You sort of have to be into a certain style of music. I want to know what this Borcherdt deal is. Is it like a Remains of Brian Borcherdt type solo deal?
show---whore
i've seen wintersleep a bunch of times. aberg83
I was there at the vinyl last night and they most certainly did blow the roof off. I haven't seen a performance like that in a while... I had no previous exposure to these guys and I was seriously impressed.
