CyberHippie
Something that I've been noticing lately is that if I have a torrent running my machine really starts to chug, and the CPU is spiking all the time. I found out this is due to my anti virus software (Avast) have a P2P scanner. Once I shut that off, everything runs smoothly. But most imporantantly, I've noticed a huge increase with the actual download speed on the torrent!!So... If your antivirus software has a P2P scanner, try turning that off if your torrents don't seem as fast as they should be.I wish I'd known about this a long time ago... StaggerLee
I use Avast too. In the P2P shield options you can choose which programs get scanned. I turn it off for utorrent, but leave it on for limewire as it sometimes picks up infected files.
CyberHippie
Cool I'll check those options out.Although I'm not sure about Limewire, I recently tried it out and was pretty disapointed.
