PalacePrincess Posted August 22, 2003 Report Share Posted August 22, 2003 McDonald's Canada to Treat Millions of Customers to Free Burgers Today Unprecedented Beef 'Giveaway' to Support Canadian Beef Industry TORONTO, Aug. 22 /CNW/ - WHAT: As part of its ongoing support of the Canadian beef industry, McDonald's Canada will be giving away hamburgers to its customers. Today, every customer who buys a beef burger at any of the more than 1,300 McDonald's locations across Canada will receive a coupon for a free beef burger. The coupon can be redeemed at the time of purchase or on a future visit before September 30, 2003. The company expects to distribute approximately 3 million coupons, estimated at a value of more than $7.5 million. Through this initiative, McDonald's Canada expects that 1.4 million pounds of beef will move through the system, greatly benefiting the Canadian beef industry. WHO: Every McDonald's customer purchasing a beef burger WHEN: Today - Friday, August 22, 2003 All day beginning during regular lunch hours WHERE: All 1,300 McDonald's locations across Canada BACKGROUND: On July 25, 2003, McDonald's Canada announced it would be converting its beef supply to 100 percent Canadian beef as an interim move to further support the Canadian beef industry. Prior to that announcement, 70 to 80 percent of the beef purchased for use in McDonald's Canadian locations had already been sourced from Canada.
