Blane
AMAZING. I couldn't get past the first paragraph without being awed by the logic they rely on to pass these orders: due to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States posed by acts of violence threatening the peace and stability of Iraq and undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq and to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people, it is in the interests of the United States to take additional steps with respect to the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13303 of May 22, 2003, and expanded in Executive Order 13315 of August 28, 2003, and relied upon for additional steps taken in Executive Order 13350 of July 29, 2004, and Executive Order 13364 of November 29, 2004. #1) The US's national security is "extraordinarily" threatened by acts of violence by Iraqis against the Iraqi government. #2) The US's policy is under threat. An inanimate political position is under threat of violence.#3) The US has been living under a "state of emergency" for the past 4 years.Oh yeah, and to me it means that the US can confiscate the property of anyone in the US who is seen to "contribute" (cash, conspiracy, etc.) to anything anti-coalition in Iraq. Dissidence not allowed. Edited July 19, 2007 by Guest
mattm
So do you think that means they can start confiscating the property of anyone who demonstrates against the Oil war?
PassedOutGuy
I wouldn't think that invoilves demonstrations as much as someone who interfere's monitarily or physically in helping to cause harm to the US or Iraqi government... i could be wrong though...
